First things first, fix the plumbing then see if you still have a problem. No need to make a bunch of mods when there is something obviously wrong with your current setup. 2 quick ways to get the over flow tank connected correctly- Add a TEE fitting into the heater return hose or add a second heater return TEE into the lower radiator hose. The other obvious thing is the over flow tank needs to be higher than the radiator.

I'm not sure if this will cause your problem, but you are correct that the plumbing is incorrect. The return from the bottom of the expansion tank needs to go to the lower radiator hose/water pump intake.

The overflow tank serves to collect steam bubbles that may form in the cooling system from cavitation of the water pump or from hot spots in the head. In your situation the bubbles have no where to collect. The expansion of the coolant due to bubbles will push the water out of the overflow tank. In a system setup so the expansion tank is the high point and has flow back to the water pump intake the bubbles can collect and vent if necessary without loosing coolant.

The only thing done to my rods is having the ARP bolts installed and the rods re-sized. I'm trying to figure out how to build a jig that will allow me to do measurements of the weights of each end of the rods in a repeatable manner so that I can lighten the heavy ones to match the light one.

I find it kind of funny that the 4 rods I have has one that is lighter than the other 3, and the new set of 79mm pistons purchased from B-Projects has one piston that is a couple of grams lighter than the other 3. Go figure...

You can add 2Dr sedans to the list of offset rear axles. I've noticed this on several of the 2Dr sedans I've had over the years. When they are lowered and stuffed with tires one side (right rear IIRC) is closer than the other.

I've been doing fresh water aquariums with live plants for close to 30 years now. The basic setup I use is 1 to 2 inches of dirt covered by 2 inches of 1-2mm gravel. The dirt has varied from garden center top soil (make darn sure that there is on fertilizer or chemicals added) to plain dirt from my back yard. I run 2 to 3 watts of full spectrum fluorescent light per gallon and have CO2 injection setup.

For a huge amount of information go to Aquatic Plant Central. There are several different forum sub groups. I lean towards a modified version of the "El Natural" setup as promoted by Diana Walstad.

Go to Aquatic Plant Central and start reading. Everything from El Natural to the folks that think aquariums should be run like a chemistry lab.

Here is a link to a post I did on APC a couple of years ago showing an El Natural tank from 15 years ago with a guest that seemed to think it was nice... Visitor to El Natural tank

Search the APC forum for gpimm to see the rest of my stuff.

Bring the ute! Way more unique than the 2Dr. sedans. Kind of opposite of the way things are in OZ.

Maggie and I will be bringing both 2Dr. sedans, a friend in Vancouver WA is bringing his 2Dr. freshly painted and re-assembled, and another friend in Milwaukee is bringing a coupe.

Looks like the weather has settled down we will have cooler temps than last week. My AC in the house ran non-stop for almost 5 days...

Most of the internally regulated alternators are set up so that they will self start and regulate without any connections other than the main battery.

The self start is done by a 3rd set of small rectifier diodes that rectify the small output voltage caused by the residual magnetism in the rotor. The small output from the residual magnetism is enough to start the voltage regulator.

The self regulation is provided by an internal diode in the regulator that provides the sense voltage from the main battery connection.

Personally, I run the internal regulated alternators with out the sense wire because it makes the output voltage about a half volt higher, which is good for headlight brightness. I also re-wire the headlights with relays and heavy wire to get maximum brightness.

The only thing to note about running without a sense wire is the alternators generally won't start charging the battery until you rev the engine above ~3000 rpm.

1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe. 5 Speed. Weber carburetor; header. New tires. Factory rear window defogger. This is a good example of a scarce Datsun model. Gets great fuel mileage, fun to drive. Not perfect, but a fine starting point for an enthusiast - or a cool little car for someone needing reliable, economical transportation. Get it while you can - not many of these left!

I had similar luck trying to upload photos last night. Same error of invalid file size. Uploader says that up to 200K is ok, but would not take my 20K images...
