I have a pair of 1200 seats in nice shape. They were recovered a few years ago. Have light gray fabric on the part you sit on and black vinyl on the sides and back. No seat tracks.

Edit: $50.00

When you snap off a tension rod, be sure to check the front mount for damage. Many years ago the former wife ran off the end of an autocross course into a ditch with the brakes on full. Snapped of the castor rod just like yours. Put in a new tension rod only to find that the caster was off on that side. Inspection if the front tension rod mount showed that the flat mount plate in center of the mount was bent back 1/4" in the center. Had to have a machine shop turn down 1/4" of the tension rod behind the front threaded portion so I could pull the wheel forward to where it belonged.

Does your car cut out during hard cornering when going left, right or both?

Testing a thermostat is a simple thing to do. All you need is a pan of water, the thermostat, and a kitchen thermometer. Put some water in the pan, enough to cover the thermostat and get a good reading on the thermometer. Turn on the heat and watch what happens. Note when the thermostat starts to open and when it is fully open. A normal 180° thermostat will start to open at 180° and be fully open by 190°.

It's a good idea to test new thermostats before installing them. Some brands are very good and measure correct while others...

Hi DD,

I got some more info from Scott's. Their window seal rubber consists of clip on welting with tubular rubber molded directly on one side. It's sold by length and you have to fit it to the car. Look at part number 322.017 at Scott's catalog page 28

Datsun had fully molded rubber seals that were glued in and had welting clipped over the inside edge of the rubber seal over the pinch weld. The coupes and sedans had different seals because of the different window shapes.

After looking at the drawing in the catalog I think it will work. May not be a perfect replacement but it sure beats the dried out cracked seals that both of my sedans have. A friend needs the other 2 sets.

sylvia-specr, thanks for the offer. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the coupes and sedans have the same side window setup, just slightly different shapes. What part of Vancouver are you in? A buddy of mine is going to paint his 2Dr sedan this coming weekend in Hazel Dell.

Hi all,

I need to know if the rubber used for the rear tip out quarter window seal is the same between the coupes and the 2Dr sedans. I'm pretty sure that both models use the same profile rubber on the tip out windows. I don't have a coupe to compare to my sedans though.

I've contacted Scott's and got a useless answer. Was hoping for a better answer considering I'm wanting to purchase enough rubber stock to redo the rear windows on 4 2Dr sedans.

Also, has anyone here used the bulk rubber that Scott's sells? How well does it work where you have to form the corners?

Thanks,

Gary

If you have the A15 intake manifold with water heat I would use it. Drill the water passages in the head and hook up the return from the manifold to the heater return.

Without manifold heat the car will not run as smooth or be as responsive at low rpm. As an example, I have 2 1200's, one has the stock exhaust manifold with the warm air induction working, the other has an extractor and does not have either manifold heat or warm air. Both cars are running modified and re-jetted stock Hitachi carbs. The car with the extractor had to be jetted richer on the primary to run correctly and even at that, it's not as responsive or smooth and does not pull from low rpm as well as the car with manifold heat and warm air. Also, the car with the extractor gets lower gas millage, 28 mpg VS. 32 in mixed driving.

I'll toss my hat in the ring for helping you get your carb working. Looks like the weather may be nice on Saturday. We can run through the basic diagnostics to see whats not right. If the carb needs a refresh you should be able to get a carb rebuild kit from Thrifty automotive. It doesn't take long to go through one.

I'm in SE Portland. Is your car drivable?

In my case the 250# springs are mated up to shortened B310 struts and KYB GR2 gas strut inserts for the Z-cars. IIRC, the struts had to be shortened ~2" to mate up with the Zed strut cartridges. The valving on the Zed strut carts seems to work well with the 250# springs.
