Broke off two flywheels in 4 days. 1st one was with standard bolts. 2nd was with ARP bolts and steel dowel.

Both happened while launching at 5500rpm revving to 8000rpm every change to third where disaster happens.

Cars runs 4.8:1 diff, sticky 195/50/15 tyres. Its an A15, ported head, twin webers, electromotive 300 degree 12.3 camshaft.

Flywheels were supposedly balanced,lightened cast items.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks Benny will try 34 chokes and rejett..

ddgonzal....yes I use a spacer to get installed valve height, figured these springs wud be able to do the job. All the other Nissan springs I had coil bind before full lift, that is with modified spring seats already....
Will have to order some or see if the machinist can give me more clearance..

When measure with dial indicator got around 12/12.2 mm valve lift.

Now I have it in an A15 engine...using ford vs39 competition springs,I am having some trouble revving it pass 8200rpm.twin 40dcoe with 36 chokes, 45pump jets, 45f9 idle, f16 tubes with 205 air and 150 mains.

Any suggestions??? Using electronic dizzy with .032 plug gap using cdi ignition box and msd blaster 2 coil.

Engine I'm planning to use, is later non vvt engine with straight intake ports. Just need more power than A15 can deliver under 1.6cc.

LU84N Electramotive 04 7251

Electromotive was a prominent Datsun racing company which supplied cams to Datsun Competition

A-13-1 may indicate the 13th cam profile for the A-series race engine?

84 suggests 8400 rpm
* Nissan Competition 74 was 7400 rpm, 296°
* Nissan Competition 80 was 8000 rpm, 320°
* Nissan Competition 82 was 328°


Old thread..but I have one of these cāms and would like to know valve clearance/lash and full lift specs.

Under 1600 is dominated by b16A eg civic...so I wud like 130-140hp flywheel from A series or 160hp from L16. 5 speed H pattern dog boxes are allowed. I have one left over from my previous mk1 escort.

Track is not long to be honest average straight is ālil over 1/8 mile,4 of them, plus two hairpin turns and other flowing turns.

Tyres have to be Dot rated greater than 100 threadwear.only things I have to pay for are parts to build engine..have access to machine shop and fuel sponsor. Fuel will be Vp109 or C16.

Have raced most my life with escorts,even though I have had many Datsuns, this first race car.

Circuit racing..all engines mention will be modified, typical n/a fashion...cams, 12:1 cr max, headwork etc. Just looking for best sensible combinations.

For experienced racers. What option wud u use?? These are restrictions for loca! Clubman class. Multi valve engines must retain stock valve sizes,variable valve timing engines must retain standard camshafts,no programmable ignition, carbs limited to 38 chokes.No turbos or methanol allowed.

1st generation n/a sr20 on webers 2296lbs/1041 KGS
A15 1845lbs/839kgs
L16 1874lbs/852kgs
Ga16 2028lbs/922kgs

Those are weights we have to run for specific CCS and valves.
Car is a 310 sunny.
