Well scrap all that engine reconditioners have now hit me up for a 3.5k rebuild,
And I don't fancy spending that much with no head work done,
3.5k on just a 40thou rebuild, cam, pistons, rods, crank balanced the usual stuff
Is this right? Would hate to see the price with head work if I got the h89 oval port head :/

Well car is now out of rego and racking my brain on what to do with it
To get the motor back out of the shop is $200 and it's all in bits apart from the m30 head
Trying to chase a running worked a14 or a15 even a good worked a12

Cheers shaun

May have to look into it DD depends on the cam really,
As for the hi stall found this good little read

http://www.badasscars.com/index.cfm/p ... t/product_id=78/prd78.htm

Hear are just some photo's of the car

One of the photo's was stuffing around with an air dam
Cars is still at stock height, rear is lowered with king spings
And haven't put fronts in yet

Hi guys and girls
Just a bit of a build thread on what I may be doing in the next two months

Car: 1981 4 door datsun sunny a12 auto
Genuine 108,***ks on car and motor

Recently head gasket popped & then i snapped a head bolt in the block

So head is at the shop awaiting to be fixed when I sort out what it needs (m30)
Bottom end will be pulled out this weekend

New stuff I have for the a12

4into1 race tech extractors 2inch outlet (will be looking into an exhaust)
40 dcom single side draft weber with 28mm chokes (also came with 32mm chokes) redline manifold with soft mount kit
& high flow cotton air filter (I'm a bit worried about all the pollution gear tapping into manifold)
And unsure on what needs to be on it and what can be plugged?
Carby comes jetted to spec's of a stock Dino tuned datsun 120y running the same carby set up on an a12 so i hope it will be in the ball park

Other things I'm looking at
Cam reground found this in wiki
Camteckcams rough idle, strong mid range and top end recommended for modified engines.
Min 9.5:1 comp ratio RPM range 3200-7200 (how modified are we looking at?)
Auto gear box?? Hi stall? Can it be done 1500rpm or lower stally ?

I don't really wanna go down the sr fj rotary road for now just wanna put some life into that a12
For abit of fun and bonding time with my datsun 😜 haha

Any help/opinions will be awesome first time owning a datsun so be nice 😖

Ok cheers guys i mite start a build thread for some ideas, I've been smashing up the wiki
But head is about to explode I'm not the best with this engine building stuff, will be a first time thing,
But keen as to get it done and finished
And while the motor is out I wouldn't mind doing some work hear and there to improve its perforence and get that auto gear box up and running.
20km/h foot flat up hills atm

Ok heater unit is blocked right up, head is being overhauled
Now for the bottomend, may as well get the shop to pull the
Snapped bolt,
While they are at it drop in a fresh regroud cam

How agessive can I go with a regroud cam?

Will be running 4in1 extractors
Dcom 40 single sidedraft weber with 28mm chokes
With a fresh rebuilt head

Just my luck due for rego in a couple of days :(
Last week I had blown the head gasket pretty bad well I think,
So today I stared doing the head
Need some help the car is a 81 b310
Just some info is this all normal stuff?

All 4cyl where full of water when removing head?

At the back of the head near the firewall there is a 90 degree water outlet
(Going to the heater unit inside the car)? I think? This was blocked
The head gasket had blown out on the cyl that is closest
To the firewall next the to blocked outlet, could the blockage have
Caused the blown head gasket?

If what I'm talking about is the heater unit, will it now be busted?
Or fully blocked up?

Also any ideas on trying to get a snapped head bolt out?
Without pulling the motor out and taking it to the shop.
Snapped in the middle of the head closest to the intake
Snapped bolt is hanging out 10mm

Any type of help will be awesome I'm in a bit of a rust to get this done for rego :(

Cheers shaun
