Went to the test and tune on saturday. I had 4 runs and the best of 12.94 @ 170kph I don't know how much boost i was running but it was too much because i couldn't get it to spool up. The track temp was way too high for any good runs

DVLDAT I would recommend a remote booster so that you have more room up front and it makes the enginee bay look neater. I am running a landcruiser master cylinder and will fit the remote booster when i make time. If it will help with your decision you can take my ute for a drive and see how they stop without a booster. They stop suprisingly well

I went with the tunnel out of the front cut. it was probably a bit more work but is better in the long run. Jus cut out the old tunnel then sit in the motor and box. bolt up the new tunnel to the ca18 crossmember and the weld it in. My engineer didn't even notice that it had been done. that way the hole for the shifter is in the right place and the cross member bolts straight on. You will need to get some new carpet made though

That was my plan dvldat but it is much easier to buy the mini tubs as there is someone out there that makes them. so all you have to do is cut the width to suit and weld them in. i have a mazdea bravo diff that wasn't shortened to fit and was just going to get a front wheel drive offset ti tuck it under the guards but the spring is the way. you need to have an engineer to submit drawings to the dept of transport to move your springs

That is a very good article and lot of information. There would be nothing wrong with yearly inspections as it keep safe cars on the road don't think that because our cars are old that doesn't mean they are not safe. I have my road worthy person look at my car every couple of months to make sure that it is road worthy all the time and that any mods that i do area legal. Don't think that new cars are safe and will pass inspections, I have seen many 2-3 year old cars fail an inspection. Alot of the older cars that are done up are done with added safety features ie harnesses roll cage bigger brakes

Dodgeman you seem to alot about cars and your questions and anzwers are always interesting to read. I am not trying to be rude but have you only ever seen fully tubbed cars in pictures with like 15z10inch wheels under them??? That is solely for drag racing as they don't turn corners. Mini tubbing is moving the spring over a couple of inches to fit wider wheels with a different offset.

Thank you for your input. I have spoken to Peter at widowmaker and he said that we will be able to work something out. I will have trouble with the adding weight idea as i have a wider track because of diff choice and i already scrub with a little weight in the back. Flares on a ute don't look good as i tried on my old 1000 ute. I might see if i can get the rear guards lipped and pumped out a bit and try the weight adding first. I like having the wheels inside and under the guards. The ute does have a light blue tinge to it. it is a piece of #### but goes hard!

I am thinking about getting another car and not driving the ute everyday so that it won't really be a street car anymore. I have the white one. What colour is the 1000 ute? I think that it is my old one if it was orange. I spoke to Peter at widowmaker and i have already seen it. Just a bit overboard for what I want!!!
