If you're running points ignition, check the spark, gap and whether or not they're burnt out.

How far the motor can be dropped for a lower CoG will will be determined more by the flywheel (and box) than the sump.

The lifter faces are machined to restore their convex shape. Also a special treatment, parkerizing, is applied to aid bedding to the new cam lobes and resist wear.

Oh no...

Where did that happen?

As for racing 1000's does anybody know anything about one built as a sports sedan in the early-mid 70's. It reputed had a solid front axle and the owner/driver had a good reputation, probably second tier behind usual winners like Moffat, Bond, Foley etc.

With that symptom check the linkages, smooth cable action and idle stops. Also if you're using points check and reset or renew them. Do the condensor too.

Since your car's a manual the possibilities for auto stalling/dying don't apply.

Next time it dies cut the engine immediately and check the fuel level in the carb. Float level maybe? Otherwise there may be some crap getting into your idle circuit but not enough to seal it.
