Not here in oz. They were imported from Japan whereas the sedans etc were locally made. The coupes here had the small bearings.

I'm after a hub to suit the imported 1200 coupe or 120Y coupe. I believe the imported Sunny coupe also had them. They run smaller bearings than the locally made ones. I'm in Sydney so closer to here would be preferable. Thanks

I've thought the same. I have a set of ca16de pistons. The raised tops may have to be machined with flycuts for the valves and matched to the chambers. The pins suit fully floating conversion of the rods. Nice pistons with drilled rather than slotted oil returns = stronger for higher revs. Need a bit of calculation for the compression ratios. I think they might be the same piston fitted to the 2 litre RB motors.

The rods also look like they'll fit and they're much beefier that the a15 rods.

Question for Simon. What is the max power and torque a 36mm air restrictor on a turbo can flow?

You may have to use a 2 part 90deg connector. Have a look at #220-10416.

The steel hydraulic lines used to replace rubber hoses have their own unique code of thread sizes. The above link should give you more detail and how the sizes are called eg -03an (called dash 3 when you are talking about sizes).

So those fittings enable you to adapt steel hoses to metric threads.

RH mount breaking? Don't know what's going on there.

Easiest way to visualize what direction the torque reacts is to consider the way an electric drill reacts when the drill bit jams up, on steel for example.

Also consider the torque reaction when powering on. It will be anti-clockwise and try to tear the LH mount off the crossmember.

Very interested in what you guys are doing.

I've also been collecting 5 speed MX5 boxes with the same view. Not a light box though, about 10kgs heavier than the series 60 box. I haven't done anything yet but have an auto bell housing that could be welded to the Mazda case.

I also wonder if bell part of the case could be milled where one of the two rings circles the entire case. Doing so and making a 3mm steel ring that bolted on with a lot of 6mm bolts similar to how three piece wheels are made. That could allow a range of steel mini bell housings being made for various engines. With ribbing and using 2.5 or 3mm steel the fabricated adapters could still be light.

With a steel mini housing, centralizing the input shaft to the pilot bearing would be simple. Two oversize holes with precise washers on opposite sides of the block, dial in the centre and a quick tack weld of the washers does the job.

Does anyone know who makes pressed steel cones that can be converted into bellousings? They are used in the USA in the making of larger adapters for heavy v8s.
