Very unfortunate Ben510. The good side of this is that there are panels and parts for Datsun 510s. If the frame did not get compromised, then you can get your Datto back on the road. If the other person has insurance and it is her fault, you can ask for another 510 in good shape and the insurance will have to pay for the labor to transfer everything to the donor car and paint.
A few years ago a woman hit my 180B while it was parked. I went to a local library, and parked across the street, away from the parking lot crazyness. Well, a dorky woman pulled out of her driveway backing up and back up straight onto my Datto passenger door ( which was parked across the street, opposite side of the road from her....).
When I got out...I saw in horror my door all bent in, that door is strong, and it looked like a pillow after a hangover....
The bitch ran away, but the neighbors saw her and told me. Later on her insurance wanted to give me 1000 bucks for my car and in the process, they were going to report my car a "salvage". My registration would be tainted for ever , showing that my car was junk ( designation given to cars that have been involved in bad car accidents , fire or water damage.)
I said no, and I threatened with reporting to the Insurance Commision and with legal action....I said I wanted my car....not interested in money and a messed up registration.
Those guys are slick! so they agreed to the repair....I went to a top of the line beaters garage for an estimate....the garage said it would do it for 900.00 bucks.....and I told the insurance Co sending them a letter.
The slick scammers sent me a letter telling me that my beaters garage already agreed to repair the car for 400.00 bucks."Please sign the form attached and that will take care of it"
I saw evil all over it...so I went to the body shop and they told me...."we never talked to nobody" we are firm in our quote...nine hundred dollars"
They were trying to actually "scam" me. Upon confrontation, these sleazy scammers could not give me a name for the person they "pressumably" spoke with about the agreed price.
I sent a letter to the State Insurance Commissioner and made a police report about "Scam and deception" by this company, and no sooner than I did this....the director in chief of that rat hole called me to tell me that it was all a "missunderstanding"
Yea right....whatever...just give me my 900.00 bucks...and just be greatfull I am leaving the isue there....

LOL.....I got carried away huh?? well...just to illustrate that you have to be firm....it is your car...and you want the same thing you had prior to the accident....I do not car if anyone thinks it is an old car....or any dorky explanations....whatever has to be done to get you your car back has to be done, no amount of money will pay for it ( unless they are willing to give you the real value of the car....).

Good luck bro.

I see less and less Datsuns as time goes by. Still a lot of Z cars and 510s. Those are the more common Datsuns.
I think we should drive our Datsuns more, yes, daily drivers. We have to show others that a Datsun is a cool car. By driving a well painted and nice looking Datsun ( not all beat up, but in nice shape) we are not only showing our good taste , but we are showing owners of Datsuns that never thought about their cars as a classic or a nice project to undertake ,that their concept is wrong, and indeed a Datsun is a cool car worthy of restoring in any style desired( performance or stock)
The best lesson is a live example.
Motivation. Many times people w/ no imagination need that push to realize their car is great. Do not keep your nice datto in a garage...drive it...and do it in style....with a Datsun.

I hope some day in the near future hatemongers like our governor here in Kahliforniah realize that preserving older cars and helping in their restoration and existence is an expression of culture and values.

I like that car, the fact it is a RHD makes it most interesting. The only pitfall is the 1978 year model, it would be another round of boxing.....

In this corner......from the state of Khaliforrrrniah!!!
ARRRnold SwatzzzZZZenegGGer
The "Terminator" of classic Datsuns....

In the other corner......Jaime the Protector of Justice and Basic Rights....the Terminator of Terminators!!!!

....and off course it would not be a clean fight...the sleazy organized "ring" would step into the ring, me alone as agreed in the "pre fight"conference , against the DMV , the police department, and aaRrRRRnahldD .....dirty scammers , ring of scum!.....

LOL...bunch a dorks!
!!!down with ahhhnald the hatemonger and terminatah of Datsun vehicles!!!

Hy Theresa.
In Texas there are quite a number of Datsun fans.
" dimlight65 " is one of them. He used to post here more often , but still around, has many Datsun cars and the most interesting projects. Heeps of information to catch on.

Check out his profile, he is a cool guy and will have a lot of hands on info, parts, and the like.

Apparently Mount Shasta is gotten purchased by a new investment group and this new group is not friendly towards the Datsun crowd.

Time to search for an alternative location. I hope this situation will work in favour of the Datsun crowd. I guess many Datsun owners felt confortable about Shasta and many were lazy ( including me, and others in here) not supporting the meet, not showing up....

Now , this problem will help this meet resurface , my hopes.

An A 15 is a direct bolt on if not mistaken. If you can get the A15 and transmission / gear box all together much better.

Go for it.

Yes, there is 160USSS , which I found to be a 160JSSS. I do not doubt the posibility of a 180U........I have seen it all, and a 180U seems within the posibilities of japanesse clasification.

There is a yahoo Datsun 180B group. Not much activity, or I should say, activity happens in spurs...no activity for a year..then 3 weeks of crazyness....LOL

I have a 180B myself. You can see it in my car domain page. Would like to see pixes of yours. Check out my page, nothing special, just a window. You can open your page there and that will be an opportunity to contact others with the same car.
