I used to be in NDSOC...have had a year and a half off. I used to drive a Black R32 GTSt.

I was tossing up between NDSOC and NCC? I think it is - Nissan car club.

If you have a schedule of races for NDSOC, and you are able to mail to me I am keen!

My goal is to be able to start racing at the beginning of Jan 06, so I guess I better start joining soon.

Mail or pm details if you don't mind and we can take it from there.

This is good news!

My first circuit outings will be on a stock motor, unbaffled sump, and I presume no oil cooler. (except for the oil filter). Only mods will be new gaskets all round, new plugs, points, HT leads.

I will make sure it's a Sandown track day and not the Island.

I will be modifying the engine...but will depend on the results of the first couple of track sessions.

I will investigate sump bafflng as well. I'll also check out this L series 'upgrade' more oil can only be a good thing!

Hey all

I've just begun the semi-rebuild of an A14, (which was mistaken for an A15...but that's another story).

For those who have experience on the race track with A14's - is the stock oil pump up to the challenge? I was considering replacing it for a higher pressure one (if one even exists).

Anyone had an A14 let go on the track due to lack of oil pressure?

Clearly I have something to learn about suspension.

You mention a text book about suspension...

Can you suggest a author/title of a good one?

I'll chase it up and have a read.

Mr_Turbo

I have on a very modest scale been documenting my A12 to A15 "conversion" on a web site...it takes a lot of space yes, but can be rewarding for both yourself and others.

To be able to explain something to others forces you to understand it yourself...this only helps you out more pushing your understanding to another 'level'

I think if you hit the www button on my profile on this post it goes there.

The pages are not fancy, (done in Frontpage even) - but they roughly communicate the message.

So have a go! I would be very interested to see the result, as my next project after the A15 is likely to be a CA18.

Good luck

I may well be showing my ignorance here, but I thought the Macpherson strut setup on the 1200 was meant to be an improvement - even advancement in suspension progress.

That the 1000 with it's 'primitive' setup could not compete with the 1200 for handling...

So how wrong am I?

$5.82....hehe

Geez these Datsun can be expensive to run...

If the sensor doesn't come out of the A15...I'll be going back to the A12 and practicing my smashing techniques...but need and motivation won the day recommending the pike philosophy to me.

I'm a 1200 racer too. The XR6 is the daily driver, because it has cruise and air con.

The 1200 is the weekend racer because it's nimble, fast and gives you a lot of feedback. And as Matt says they are indeed fun.

The good thing about the 1200 being a racer is on Sunday night if it is still in bits it's not a tragedy, as it doesn't have to get you to work the next day.

Hey all,

I chickened out of doing anything with the sensor and just left it stuck in the motor.

As this A12 was a practice engine I decided not to loose too much sleep over it.

I picked up a Dremel tool recently - so once I get some confidence up with that tool (and a good set of safety glasses) I'll try hacking it up.

Until then that temp sensor is stayin.

The Microtech was purchased new or re-calibrated for the CA18DET engine?

Usually when delivered these computers have a standard set of maps in them particular to the engine that will allow them to start.

I'm just reminded of someone else recently on these forums who bought a Microtech unit second hand - but it was calibrated for a different engine...giving him problems.

I've had the same drama too in the past and it required a re-cal by Microtech.

Also I thought Microtech was a small time Australian operation....I never realised they sold this stuff in the US. Or is it a US company to begin with?
