I've got a four speed out of a Sunny (56A box) which is pretty good, Also I have a complete 1200 coupe body shell still sitting on top of a good rear axle (includes h145 centre). Let me know if they're of any interest.

I've got seats from an early model honda CRX and they fit, as Ace Ventura would say, "like a glove".

Inspired me to get on with the KB10! If I can get it to look and go like that little beauty I'll be a happy vegemite.

Funny thing is that a transmission with ratios:
1 - 3.757:1
2 - 2.374:1
3 - 1.659:1
4 - 1.291:1
5 - 1:1
really ought to be described as "close ratio". If it was in a BMW it certainly would be!

5 gears that cover the same range as the 4 gears in a 4 speed Datsun box. To drive, it sure feels heaps better than a four speed in that:
a. You have a gear for every occasion;
b. It keeps the engine spinning over (much nicer with a standard motor and necessary with a modified motor)

Having driven cars with proper close ratio boxes it can be disappointing and frustrating to go back to a standard box. The "option box" could be a bit of a struggle sometimes in a road car (getting started on a hill with a little engine and a 2.6 first gear - lucky its a light car) but once you get it rolling it would be great fun!

I thought that the 65A 5 speed transmission was known as F5C56A and that it had two different gearsets, "option one" with a 3.75 first gear and "option two" with a 2.65 first gear. Both are direct in top (5th).

Nissan Comp catalog

and another

Sorry, just being a bit pedantic!

I have two of the F5C56A & one F5W56A gearboxes & one of the former will end up in my KB10GL behind my A13. Eventually the F5W56A will become available, but not this year.

Can you please explain the difference between the two?

I got a cable from a motorbike wreckers which had a device that joins onto a single cable and transfers the movement to two cables. Hard to explain, but easy to understand (and use) once you see it. Works a treat. Cost me $10!

If you depsperately want to see it I might be able to take a photo, but I never seem to be home in daylight.
