Do you think that the spring will staighten out(de-coil)? or just end up too soft?
The spring is about 55-60 mm round and about 150-160 mm long with about 5-6 coils so it a bit of a rare bird when it comes to finding one and I dont want to spend any money, the stenal gate cost me $90.00(brand new, on my door).

Iv got a qusestion for all you clever datophiles Iv got a external waste-gate on my datsun turbo and I want to reduce the boost.
I bought the smallest sternal gate i could find (a 38mm trust replica from china) and it works fine, but I want to reduce boost pressure it seems to keep about 10-12 psi on my motor.
I want to reduce the boost pressure down to about 5-6 psi.
Im thinking of putting the spring in a vice so its fully compressed and then heating the spring to de-temper it.
I think that it going to be tricky to heat the spring to a hot enough temp to re-temper it so i thought id ask you fellow datophiles.




Any Ideas?

I was over in W.A last week for my bros wedding he lives in the bibra lakes area. We had to go into town (perth, freakmantle and other surrounding suburbs) a number of times, utilising a vast array of different highways at various diffrent times. Now Im a car spotter from way back, I saw a lot of tarted up s13/14/15, not many R32/33/34, not one s30 240z/260z, I saw a realy tidy brown grandpa spec 1200 with matching driver and sun visor, and a couple of later model sunny panel vans, and apart from a cool looking sunny wagon with `INSUNLT` plates very little else in the datsun department. I did see pleanty of other cool old cars though.
I belive there is no yearly road worthy test as this would explain my brothers mistashitti `maggie` I took it down to the shops a couple of times and the noises coming from the timing chain and c.v. joints are leading me to belive shes on her last legs.
I want to find him a good, tidy,original, rust free A-series datsun sedan/wagon. Does any one have any ideas?
I belive he would be willing to pay a fair price for a good example.

No the damage was no too bad not a lot to bun in a 1000 fair bit of smoke damage though

I used to think that fitting an imobiliser and keeping the old girl locked was a safe way to ensure my pride and joy stayed safe. I also thought that it was a sort of public safety thing (cant have young hoons killing themselves in a 800kg 120kw rocketship).
Well Iv changed my mind, Iv been trying to sell the old girl over the past couple of weeks so shes been parked out on the street with 4 sale signs on. Last night some sub human low life tried to steal her, when they couldnt get her started they tried to tourch her to remove any evidence of themselves. I wish they had got her going and removed any evidence of themselves from existance.


Any thoughts?

Im selling an old friend, My datsun 1000 wagon Iv had her for the past 8 yrs or so.
It is fitted with a standard a10 motor swapped from my sedan.
It is still fitted with a cortina 4speed (a bit tall for the a10) and heavy duty clutch (solid sawblade c/plate and new rpm p/plate).
Near new tyres all round
120y b/w diff ,sigma centre 3,89:1

The front right suspension copped a wombat at speed but it is only minor could be pulled out.

The main reason for selling is regos up soon and i dont have enough space for my next project.

I wont sell it if i belive it will be mis-treated eg padock basher

This car is idealy suited to a fellow dattophile who wants to bring her back to her drag strip days.

the 1000 has a zenith stromberg 1.75 cd (constant depresion) carby similar to a su (skinners union) carby

This is my collection of datsuns (+one ugly friend) I have them all reg`d and insured (about 3k per year) thats alot cheaper than my friends skyline (loan, comprehesive insurance, reg. 4k+per year.)
From left to right :`67 Datsun 1000 2 dr (b10), A15T, Toyota split case 5 speed, To3 from rb30 high flowed to a15 30 psi,( At least 125+rwkw: dyno`d at 105rwkw@17psi). This was my first car I bouht I got it with 26,000 orig miles, one owners family wanted him off the road.
Datsun 1000 wagon (vb10) A10, Ford 4 speed, bullet proof drive train. When I bought this car it had just done a 12.7 sec pass. Last year I pulled the motor and fitted a dellow 5 speed and put it in the sedan. I cant bear to get rid of this old beast (shes only done 15 kms in the last 12 months)
Datsun 240Z (HS30) L26 out to 2800, Race cam, Triple 45 DCOE webers, tuned exhaust, std. 5 speed. I spotted this old beast under a tree in the backyard next to house i was working at. he`d spent about 20k+ on it (15+ years ago) and left it under a tree. I got it for 1.5k ( I had to get a set elmulsion tubes /main jets /pump jets) for the webers costing about $500.00 but that was about it shes not the prettiest z but i rekon shes the sweetest sounding.... she has no mufflers in the system ( straight out)
280 C (cedric) P330. I bought this a couple of months ago, I hadnt seen one on the road for ages and this was a good example too good to pass up. All original fully loaded (P/S, P/W, A/C, Tape player with am and fm, I cant belive the same donk is in the zed ((shes slower than a standard 1000 ) But shes a magic carpet ride.
Mistashiti Pigma Porkion turbo I bought this car after i got a t4 turbo off the net cheap it came with inlet and exhaust manifols for a 2.6 astron and they looked too good to scrap so the porkion was aquired for 1k (12mnth rego) on 18 psi shes faster than the zed but not quite upto the A15t.
well thats the datsonovic fleet apart from the workhorse `96 Hiace 2.8d lwb and the poosuki altoabusa project (`86 suzuki alto/gsxr 1300) road reg hillclimb machine.

G`Day, Oh the KB110 what a clever man mr datsun was. My friend tomba has just bought this 1200 coupe and i think for a good price too($400.00?) he`s just got rego, new disc rotors are next. do you know of any common problems in these cars( rust areas etc)

I got on to yahoo.co.jp to have a look, I had to use google translate, this was of some help but it is listed as not shipping overseas and i doubt if i could navigate the site to register for the auction as i cannot read japanese text. Has anyone had any expiriences with this or similar forign sites?.
