I am 90% done on the L18 conversion.
I think the L18 is 15kg heavier than an A series.
180B and Stanza Crossmembers don't bolt in. They are wider.
You need to remove existing crossmember and cut it down to fit L18 engine mounts.
There isn't much room behind crossmember so you need a sump with a front mounted pickup and well (I got one off a stanza).
I'm using a stanza 5spd which fits in the std manual tunnel and the shifter comes out of the existing hole with little modification.
The only other problem which I am still trying to rectify at the moment is fitting the hydraulic clutch up to the existing cable clutch pedal but have almost got this fixed I think.
If you need anymore information let me know

cheers

Bruce

We recently fitted a radiator off a honda prelude. Nice and wide and not very deep. And it slotted nicely under the radiator support panel. Looked like it had been made for the job.

Can anyone offer any advice on fitting a clutch master cylinder into my 1200 coupe.

Will I need to change the standard pedal box to make it fit?

I have a master cylinder off a stanza?

cheers

Bruce

I have recently put a 1200 ute diff in my coupe.
What shocks are people using for this conversion?
I can't use the standard 1200 coupe shocks anymore.
The diameter on the mounting plate for the diff is different between the ute and the coupe.

thanks
Bruce

have you had any quotes as yet on your cage. If you do I would be interested to know where from.

I got a quote from a mob in Dandenong about 6months ago for my coupe, it was basically for a 6 point cage fitted (cams approved) around $800.

I am in the process of fitting an L18 and stanza 5spd into a 1200 coupe. we had to cut down the front crossmember (no big deal) and weld some plates across to suit the L series mounts. Engine fits really nicely. You need to use a sump with a well at the front (I got one off a stanza). The existing gearbox mounts need to be removed. The stanza 5spd fits quite snuggly in the standard manual tunnel, but you need to make up a new gearbox rear crossmember.( I used angle iron). I am using standard 1600 extractors which also fit quite snuggly.
Using the Stanza 5spd you dont need to change the gearstick hole. I am going to have to get a new tailshaft made up (quoted about $100). I have put in a 1200 ute diff. Other things to consider include changing the clutch over to hydraulic from cable. I am also struggling to find a radiator that fits. Also if someone can tell me what shocks they are running on a 1200 coupe with a ute diff I would be very happy, as I can't seem to track any down that fit.
if you need anymore information email me at heathbruce@optusnet.com.au. I'm in Melbourne

Unfortunately they didn't sell the models you mentioned in Aus.

Any other ideas?

Can anyone help me out with a suggestion for an alternative radiator for my L series coupe. I'm trying to get something off the shelf. Has anyone had any experiences they
would like to share?

cheers
