Thanks so much.. I will start keeping close eye on ebay.. those would really help the build!

I did not yet contact Brian Finch.. probably my next step as I move forward with this! I do need to find some local source for info , knowledge and maybe even parts... and to learn to drive this thing (far different than my other car!)

ddgonzal: Do you happen to have close up or high resolution pics of the plaques for the 1980 and 1981 SSAC runoffs (Champion Spark Plug Challenge). And the dimensions? This care race all 3 years 79-81 at the runoffs (per the log books) but only has the plaque for '79 . Tryign to think of some way to REPRODUCE the plaques.. even if just as sticker for nostalgia to mount on the dash with the others.. for the restoration.

My apologies if this is annoying. I am bumping this OLD OLD thread back up to the top.. hoping again somebody might have more info, more stories, more DETAILS of this car from '76 - '83 race period, when owned and raced by David R Miller.

Old photos would be great...

This car has rich history.
Raced from 1976-2018
First in Class at over 20 Nationals and Regionals in the Midwest between 1979-1988
Won the GT4 MID DIV Championship in 1979 as a C-Sedan car and in 1980 and 1981 as GT4
SCCA MIDDIV champion in 1983 (GT5) but did not race in the Runoffs that year
Raced in the SCCA Runoffs 3 consecutive years: in 1979 (Champion Spark Plug Road Race Challenge - C sedan, 11th) 1980 (GT4, 11th) and 1981 (GT4, 5th).

My goal is to bring it back to C-sedan glory and get it accepted with CSRG and SVRA and eventually try to get it in the Monterey Historics if / when they have a class where it would fit in at some point.

If anybody has period photos of it from the 70's / early 80s (pre- GT flares and fiberglass) ... would be great. Time sheets from runoffs ? 79-81 ...

anything like that..

thanks

Kind of have an eye out for a donor / parts car for front end sheet metal.. inner wheel wells, entire front sheet metal , etc if anybody somewhere in California might have for cheap. I need some replacement sheetmetal for an old race car 1200 coupe.

Thanks

It was great to see you again!! and once again, so disappointed you were not able to be out there on Sunday teaching the 510's and 2002's how the little car can still kick some ass! One of my joys in the Wagon is being passed by you.. feeling that disappointment for a moment then watching you slide through the next few turns and smiling to myself about how cool you drive that car and how much fun it looks like!

Hope you can make a buttonwillow race some time with VARA and look forward to getting my 1200 out there next year to learn from you!

I have been so darn MIA... my apologies. I couldn't make the VARA event unfortunately (both cars with drivetrains pulled) and I wont see you for a year until next Las Vegas VARA race.. If you still have the cross member can you let me know cost shipped to 95658. I can paypal you promptly. If you already sold it I totally understand, since I disappeared for a month. . My apologies. I got sidetracked with boring stuff in life instead of the cool stuff like cars and racing!!

Does anybody know how to get ahold of user autosportwrench ? The person who posted on page 3 of this thread and was David Miller's shop mechanic? Also does anybody (Peter Zekert?) have photos of this car from 1979-1983 ? I have the car now.. racing on the West Coast with VARA and working to slowly try to bring it back to something resembling what it was in 1979-82 part of its life. As a vintage racer. ANy info, photos, help anybody can give would truly be appreciated. Thanks - STEVE
