Rivergate here in the US sells the kit for $199 (includes springs, boot, baulk rings and bearings). Good company to do business with.

Dont hear too much about these cars and was curious to see what was under the hood when I was out rummaging in a junkyard. The firewall label was not legible so couldn't tell what motor it has. According to Tech Wiki very likely the A14 here in the US. It has the H72 head with an additional stamp code (101) on the other side of the head. Are there any parts worthy of pulling from the engine? Is this the common H72 head? The transmission (4-speed) won't do me any good since its front wheel drive.

Thanks for the information guys. Is the valve angle the same for all of the various A series cylinder heads?

Took my GX head into the machine shop for a rebuild. Valves will be recut and valve seats will be replaced. What angle is recommended for the valves? This head will be going on an A15 block that is for street use. Intake will be dual Hitachi's coupled with GX exhaust manifold. Thanks.

That A12 motor sounds sweet in the video. Makes me want to hang on to my spare A12 engine and use it for another project. The tachometer shows 8000 rpm as redline. Is that because its a racing motor or would that also apply to a stock engine?

Any opinions on the Glyptal paint? I had no intentions of sealing/painting the inside of the block.

My Fel-pro gasket set just came in from NAPA and will pick it up sometime this week. Will post a picture of what I received. Its for the entire engine. Did you get a chance to read the write up on the weblink? They talk about using certain oil and break in procedures for a rebuild. Also mentions the datsun motor being internally balanced. I thought it was a good comprehensive article.

Some of you may be familiar with this website. It is for the L series but should also pertain to its A series cousin. Good information on here and would like to hear any comments. There is reference to installing the oil pan gasket with RTV sealant. Some on the 1200 site recommend no sealant. Also curious about Glyptal paint that is mentioned. Please read and chime in......

Interesting on the synchro rings in your gearbox. Do you plan to rebuild your transmission, or you only opened it up for inspection? A rebuild kit may be similar to mine and have teeth all the way around the ring.

Block was decked and GX head shaved for a total of about 10 thousandths. Should I be concerned with piston to valve clearance?
