I have had the pleasure of receiving a few defect notices or yellow stickers here in w.a.
My suggestions are-
>dont fix up too much stuff!
They will check everything anyway, give you a list to fix. you fix them and return for them to check only those things. minimal effort and no guess work on what you think you may need to fix.
>make sure you bring your original defect notice!
They get REALLY STRICT AND THOROUGH. not a good thing!! take original paperwork!!!

i ride motorbikes with a few cops and we discussed this recently, we dont have anything like that here in perth, we had a few xr8's and a few wrx's a while back but they all got rejected due to budget reasons, so its all std commodores and falcons only here.
yay!! not that my std sunny is worth trying to drag anyway.
hehehe

I think when i get back form my overseas trip i am going to learn how to weld so that i can make all the custom manifolds. Buy a a14, webber carb, spercharger etc build it up and drop into my sunny. then rebadge it "overcast" with all the moke it aint gonna be sunny.
nothing like a street sleeper and when you tell them its a 1400 its even better.
I used to have a lot of fun woth my 1600 escort with a nice race spec engine. Nothing more enjoyable than destroying a commodore boy with his mates and all you are running is a small 4 cylinder....
GREAT MOTIVATIONAL THREAD GUYS.

gday all!
I have found some extractors in the local rag for $80. they are to suit an A series.
My questions is, are all a series exhaust stud/port pattern the same. ie if these are off an A15 would they still suit my A12.
If it is only match porting required (oval/rectangle) than that can always be done when fittign them, and a port job never hurts..

thats some f**ked up sh** . I hate when cars play up only when you are no where near a mechanics.
A very interesting problem, but yeah check for air leaks etc as previously suggested. Try taking off each vacuum line 1 by 1 and if the engine dosnt chnage idle when you unplug it then it may be suspect for a leak.
Also check coolant and oil to see if they have mixed (stuffed head or head gasket).
when all else fails, take it to
Guthrie motors, Collingwood st Osborne Park and speak to Grant. 94465368.
Ring first as he is usually pretty busy.
Good luck.
