Hopefully the head hasn't gone soft/annealed (due to overheating) and caused this..

Engine capacity limit was 2L. My understanding is they had to run the original engine block and that Tony Marsh's car won the 1984 championship running a very powerful 1300 (reputedly 160hp) on motorcycle carbs (yes just like is 'fashionable' again now). This was the car which had been lowered by raising the floor/chassis, engine set back 12" etc Marsh coupe - it was black when he raced it. Very trick racecar...

Spotted and purchased a new to market(?) magazine here in NZ. Has a good article on the 1200sss and 120Ysss. They interview the guy who came up with the idea, and persuaded Nissan Japan to agree including (limited/reduced) factory warranty (Warren Broadbent); and the guy whose business made the mods (Dennis Marwood). Learned something new too: the last 120Ysss had smaller 35mm Dellortos. Link to g-force magazine webpage

Shifter hole 'adjustment' sounds like an easier fix than fabricating mounts. Tin snips or jigsaw perhaps..

A series race spec. I think the Ford English axles are ok up to around ~200bhp (yes I know its torque that matters, but bhp is generally easier to estimate.) A mate of mine ran same axle type in his heavily modded Escort racecar which ran a 200bhp Pinto engine and no diff issues.
I used 4.44:1 diff ratio and I think he ran 3.9:1. Wouldn't want to run the low ratio (ie numerically high) diff with a large/torquey engine as the axles/half shafts twist and break due to the torque multiplication.

I run a Ford Cortina Mk2 English diff in my B110 Coupe racecar. Made the change some years ago now to get better ratios selection; LSD; stronger than H145. As I recall: - Leaf spring pad spacing was the same but angle was wrong so ground off welds then rewelded in the correct positions. The axle length is slightly longer than H145 by maybe ~25-30mm per side. - Prop shaft - I used a B310 unit which is the same size and has the same bolt pattern as the 'Small' English pinion flange. (In my case I did have to get my propshaft (professionally) shortenedas my engine is set back. Not sure but suspect this may be the case in any B110 as the B310 is a bigger/longer car?) - redrilled the ford axles to 114.3 stud pattern.

Why were 120Ys referred to as "Honeybees" in USA?

I'd have expected the 60A and 60L to be near identical. Was the 60A a 4-speed (and 60L a 5 speed)?

I'd recommend extractors to obtain benefit from a larger carb. When buying a set, take care to get ones that fit with a single carb inlet manifold (some won't fit unless a twin carb manifold is also fitted).
