Check the turbo..... you may have damaged the bearing...... Mine has done it twice this year.. both times after a hard gear change. Starts and idles fine, exhaust sounds diffrent though when you drive it, doesn't want to rev and makes little if any boost.

If you can access the front of the turbo, check to see if there is excessive play in the shaft or if the shaft even spins.

First time, mine seized the shaft completely, second time the bearing has collapsed but not to the point where the thing seized....shaft is bent though but the wheels still spin enough to make a couple of pounds of boost.

I look forward to seeing this project progress.....and get out there with the rest of us IPRA boys...... Good Combination too....I'll be interested to see the torque curve of the CA.... being a 1.8L, you should have a slightly larger rev range than the 2L guys. Wait until you bolt on the restrictor....that will be depressing!

My Young guy just turned 11....... it's only a matter of time before I get him something to have a crack in..... he loves coming to the race track. His jobs involve taking the valve caps on & off for the guys to check tyre pressures, cleaning the brake dust off the wheels after each race and removing and replacing the wheels nuts (yes we double check threm )

Look out for a 2 car team in the future!

I wish I did!

I am currently looking at adapting possible the Monza style 1600 air dam to fit. Other options I will be researching further are the RX 2 & RX 3 Spoilers. TE Gemini spoilers also look like they may be a possibility. Either way, you will most likely need to have it modified to fit.

Mark.

Rallytwit....... That budget includes running costs, but not repairs etc....

Our first meeting for 2007 is April, and I still don't have my new pistons or repaired the head from last years blow up! Add to that a new set of tyres, new oil cooler set-up, new front & rear spoilers.........it's going to be an expensive couple of months!

As Geoff says....it's all relative.

Budget for a weekend of racing for is around $1,500.

This gets me around:
25 laps of practise.
5 laps in qulaifying
1 x 6 lap race
1 x 8 lap race
1 x 10 Lap race.

Then there is the CAMS Licence at $400+ per year.

Motor Racing is not cheap, and it is understandable that not everyone can commit their hard earned to participate - but as others have said, attend the events that do fit your respective budgets and make the Datnats as strong as possible.

I wont be bringing my car down to the Datnats as we have a race meeting the following weekend in Sydney - and wont have to make repairs if something goes wrong at PI. Our State Championship is more important - this year.

I do hope to come down for the weekend however.

See You there.

The scary part is the outside edge still gets the worst of it.
