I've PM'd you with details for Kev Rowley. He's a top bloke and has done many CA18 conversions into 1200 coupes/utes/sedans.
I'm sure he could assist with most of your
needs.

Not sure how many of you guys have heard of Kev Rowley (who has engineered many 1200's with CA18's etc). But I was speaking to him last week and he plans to head down from Queensland some time in January (I think) with his latest toy an R31 Skyline Coupe with RB25 Neo and do a cruise down the Great Ocean Road. It would be good to catch up with him on this cruise...This guy is a wealth of information. Just a thought!

I would like a genuine left hand guard but
$300 is a bit steep. I know you've had that for a long time. If you want to get rid of it
I'd certainly give you $150.00 which is double what a repro is worth.

You certainly should be able to get a CA18DET into a ute for under $8000. But the final cost really just depends on how you want to go about it. If you want to minimise costs I'd try using a silvia radiator and use the standard ECU with a modified loom. Kev Rowley in Brisbane is well versed in these conversions. If you keen to get things underway email me and I can give you his details (shandy@nex.net.au).
Good luck!

Datto Doctor I thought I was the only Datsun 1200 nut with a fetish for First Gen Camaro's. It was really the other way around initially as I bought my 68 RS/SS Camaro and when I went to get it roadworthy ended up buying a 1200 coupe of the mechanic to drive to work. Since then I've spent more time mucking around with 1200's than the Camaro. Datsuns are so much cheaper for parts.

P.S. There was recently a 1200 Coupe on ebay that had a trick looking cowl induction type bonnet.

Mate, Good to see another Melbourne person heading down the CA18 route. Where abouts in Melbourne are you? Both TRB012 and myself are from Melbourne and are in the middle of our CA18DET conversions. We might be able to give you a few tips. Are you planning to get yours engineered? What was your CA in previously?

I was keen until I read that they were no good for a CA18. When you say the engine is to heavy do you mean that the springs end up to low and the wheels are fouling or is the handling no good. I was told springs with 200lb rating should do the job fine, do you know what rating yours are?

I'm looking for a pair of late model (the ones with the larger ball joint bolts) 120Y struts.
I don't need the brake rotors or calipers.
Would prefer ones with lowered springs but original is fine. I'm in melbourne and would prefer local if possible but would consider interstate if they had lowered springs and good inserts.
Email me at SHANDY.NEX.NET.AU if you can help.

I have used the taiwanese repro quarter panels and they fit well..or they did when I bought them a couple of years ago. They stopped making them for awhile but I believe they are not to hard to find now and go for about $150.00 a side. I did see a pair on ebay a few days ago so maybe you should check them out. Otherwise try AP Panels in Melbourne.
