I hope these pics get posted soon, I'm keen to see what the floor and inner guards look like. Would be interested in the prices too!

Demojob can you please advise me how much you want for that speed sensor and whether or not you have any of the wiring loom that plugs into it. You can email me at shandy@nex.net.au.

Thanks...Cadet1200

Damo, I have grabbed an R31 speed sensor today which might do the job..however can you just let me know how many wires the original CA18 sensor has going to it (colours would be good to). How much would you be wanting for yours if the one I've got is no good. At least I'd be sure that yours would read right.

Yeah I was going to go cable driven but decided to use the Silvia instrument cluster and have had my wiring loom converted to suit...it was only after I'd had that done and bought a dash that I looked for the sensor....doh! Anyway I grabbed a sensor from an R31 today and it certainly screws in ok, just not sure about how it will read at the speedo.

I'm putting a CA18DET and 5-speed into my ute and using a silvia instrument cluster. However I've just found out that the gearbox I've got is missing the speed sensor. Does anybody know whether the R31 Skylines use the same sensor..I saw one of these at the local wreckers and would be cheaper than sourcing a CA one. Or if anyone has a CA one they didn't use in their conversion can they let me know. Thanks.

Yeah I did it to. I used a diff from a Series II Bluebird which has the H165B 8-bolt diff centre. The car I took it from was a 5-speed manual and I think the ratio was 3.9. It worked nicely behind my A-Series 5-speed.
These centres are a bolt in fit with no tailshaft modifications required. Beware of the early Bluebirds which had a H165A diff, which although will bolt in, has different splining for the axles.

Yep they are exactly the same. I used sedan doors on my last ute project (1980 model ute). Funny how a lot of wreckers charge more if you ring up looking for ute doors.

You need to speak with Kev Rowley in Brisbane. He basically does CA18DET conversions on 1200 coupes and utes for a living these days and has organised for plenty of them to be registered. I'm thinking maybe it's easier up there than it is in Vic.

Well fingers crossed for the Wantirna Engineer. Look forward to hearing how you went. It would be good for me to have an engineer thats close to where I work.
