so ive just spent 2 days waiting for my A15 to be completed (after like months and months of waiting) and I put everything together in the datto and ive forgotten to cover the water outlets below the twin webers. water drips everywhere.

does any1 have a better plan than to simply screw a screw into the holes, hacksaw the end of it off and then file it down until its flush ??

A15 twin webers 11:1 compression stage2.5 cam bored 1550cc engine which leaks water.

i just put a rebuilt A15 in my datto1200 and I found that putting 4 litres of oil produced a 1/2 full oil dipstick reading.. I emptied the rest of the bottle (eg put all 5 litres in) and she was good. i'd have to cheq my manual to see what the A12 held and guestimate from there. seems like about a 4.5 - 5 litre capacity

mods include completely new internals, bored out to around 1588cc ported swirly head. replaced stage2-3 cam. 10:1 compression. twin 40 weber carbs fuel pump. oil cooler. electronic distributor. try ebay for a manifold they sell on there all the time for around $100.
your streets ahead of me with the body repairs, mine has had a beating all its like from an old lady, then sandwiched by some old bastard near Windsor. ive got a few new panels (from ebay) but havnt done much with them yet

get yourself a can of Carby Cleaner, take off the air filter, rev the car high and empty 1/3 to 1/2 of a can down the throat of your carb - see if that helps. should remove a bit of the carbon and garbage build-up.

either mod the 1200 mount or get an engine mount from an 1980something 1200 ute. there are pics on this site showing the engine mounts, just search. radiator upgrade you may want to consider especially for long highways drives and city traffic. a gemini radiator is a popular conversion. search again - lots of pics.
brakes u already have disc front maybee upgrade to stanza struts/120Y castor rods for improved braking/handling/tire size. u can use your 4 speed box with an A15 with no changes to gearbox mounts.
im currently in the process of preparing to put in an A15 into my coupe too.

ive been thinking of ways to attach an oil sender for when my oil temp guage eventually arrives in the mail.. google.com has showed me a few people who've used a sandwich plate (drilled through eg no oil cooler attached) and drilled/threaded a hole into the side of the adapter to plonk in the oil temp sender unit. (both normal holes on the sandwich plate blocked off)

you could probably also get a T junction piece in place of the oil pressure sender plug.

id say the best spot for (as close as) correct temp reading is the sump.

edit:

i got the guages and have since installed them. the temp guages are a bit fishy at the moment still testing them, but the oil temp guage came with as 4 junction to plug onto the side of the engine. so now i can have oil temp sender, oil pressure sender and even the stock idiot light! it leaked until i used nylon thread around all the connections, except the connection to the engine itself.

edit:
ive since installed an oil cooler kit and sandwich adapter. i had the oil temp sender put into the sandwich adapter so i get an oil temp reading as soon as it leaves the engine. with the 4 junction plug i can also plug an oil pressure sender and also the stock datsun1200 idiot oil light!
