I think the organizer or someone with a good camera took a few pics of my car, but haven't seen them anywhere yet...

According to my calendar, the next meet is the Solvang Datsun meet... I might enter this one, I'll most likely go in anycase.

When: Saturday April 26th, 9am - 3pm
Where: Downtown Solvang, CA
What: 21st Annual Solvang Datsun Roadster Classic

The 21st Annual Solvang Datsun Roadster Classic will be held in beautiful downtown Solvang, Ca. Entry into the show is $30. The show will be from 9 am to 3pm and will culminate in an awards banquet held at Hans Christian Anderson Park in Solvang CA. There is a category for non-Roadster vintage Datsuns. Old school Datsun enthusiasts and all encouraged to attend!!! Many folks from around the country and even overseas attend this yearly event. Come join in the fun!

a well made auto won't shift into 1st from 4th no matter what you do, so it's hard to break them that way, and no bent pushrods either.

I just hated all the power they waste and fighting the ECU/TCU all the time when I was rallying, but not having to think and just shift was nice, as was tearing around in second or third gear and putting the shifter into 1 and having it not downshift till i was going first gear speeds was kinda neat, though initally it seemed like first was left on the road somewhere.

I did have a video of that, but it's all black with brush and rocks tearing by... there were a few oopese in that tape...

I tried to get there at 9 but needed a bit more sleep. When I parked, I was to the left of this camera basically.

manual valve body automatics are probably the best, fast ####ing, no internal intelligence trying to upshift all the time.
^^ did i typo up here or is shifting a dirty word now?
oh I typed ####-ing left out an F... oops!

yeah if you go the power, there's nothing wrong with a good auto, but short of the paddle shift ones, they suck.

I was there, another nice little meet, mostly 510's there were about 3 210 type things there.

Met some new people not from the forums.
Didn't see any forum people there, but I went a bit late about noon.

The UK is ( or was ) one of those places where LPG conversions seemed like a good idea, propane was really cheap for a number of years.

There really are options to petrol if you're willing to change your ways.

I had kind of forgotten that you can get petrol 24/7 when i drive the petrol car it's kind of foreign.

americans seem to like being amateur drag racers or something, they want a low 60 foot time in a minivan or a truck or economy car. This makes no sense at all, but it's how people here drive, every green light, people blast away, trucks and minivans being the most aggressive of all.

I think it might be good for america to pay more for fuel, people have bought big cars that get lousy mileage to look cool to their friends. Apparently the pain hasn't reached the brain yet.

Diesel tends to be about the price of mid grade petrol these days, until the last few years diesel was always a bit more than petrol.
