Could some body possibly elaborate on this for me. So I can get a better understanding of whats happening.
"The power valve opens and closes half of the runners in the intake plenum, to maintain intake air speed, to ensure a better fill of the cylinders with petrol and air under 4000rpms
It really should be connected, unless the valve butterflies are removed"
On the CA there are 4 vacume lines which come out between the inlet manifold on the drivers side of the motor. They go to a canister and some one way valves.
What exactly is this canister used for on the s13?
I thought it was for the climate control, being a vacume resovoir to assist in the switching of the solenoids required for electronic climate control systems. Is this correct?
I ask as I came to the above conclusion and removed it from the CA conversion process, halfway through. But I have noticed in a few pix I have seen this device remains.
I brought a Ryobi gas/gasless mig for around $600 bucks a few years ago. It was poor on the gasless wire and the gas cylinders dont last long.
Ended up setting it up with a regulator and a normal gas bottle. Plus good quality wire. Its OK on material upto 3mm.
But it dont compare to the welder I got at work which is about $3000.
The main prob I found with the cheap welders is they only have 4 power settings which makes it hard to find a happy medium. Took me a while to get use to this and to master welding thin material with this welder.
Presently the vehicle has FWD 13 inch rims off a mitsubish colt fitted. This gives a track width increase of 25mm which is legal in WA
I would like to fit a set of alloy wheels to the car now. 14 - 15 inch.
So Im open to sudjestions about possible combinations which can be used with the stanza strut. Have been looking around but there is not much to choose from and retailers dont seem to want to get a rim sent over from the east to see if it will fit.
Hopefully someone knows a rim style, manufacturer and offset which will work.
This topic comes up here all the time, there is plenty of reading about engine swaps in the tech section and ca18 conversions on other sites in the links section.
Maddat can supply parts for a ca18 conversion.
I am yet to see a sr20 engine in a street car which is legal or for that matter a sr20 in a street driven 1200.
The speedo in my coupe (round one) has a sticker fitted to it which reads both km and miles. The trip reading is however still in miles. these were available back in the 70's but sure u could make something up.
I removed this speedo in preferance for a electronic vdo unit for the ca conversion.
I dont want to part with it though, but would be happy to email you a pix of the face. As I retro fitted the vdo gauge into the old gauge cluster. I have the face packed up in the drawer.
