I used a master cyl out of a Ford econovan and mounted it on the inside of the car. Then a flex hose off that to a remote mounted resovoir.

That part of clutch sys works well accept on my car the slave cyl is currently hitting on steering assy.

Email me and will send u soe pix if u like

Not trying to shoot you down in flames but I wish my ca conversion only costed $10 000.

I guess u could find a private mechanic who would tackle the task. And to keep the cost down you could look at stanza brakes and struts, 180B booster/master cylinder etc. Plus using as may of the half cut parts as possible.

With the popularity of ca conversions a half cut could be upto $3000 not sure of prices on east coast.

Dont forget to consider fuel tank mods, tail shaft, computer or ecu, rims and tyres etc.

Good Luck

A a15 is far easier and less complicated to install than a ca. With the popularity of ca conversions increasing you may be able to pick up a semi completed project in 4 years and build 1 ute out of the 2. Ca conversions never follow your set budget.

Have you considered re-skinning the old doors. Genuine door skins are no longer available but there are companies around who can produce them for you.

Depends on how much you want good doors and the condition of your door frame.

If you fit the fibreglass flares you trim off the inner excess of the guard - about 2 inches and the flares go out an extra 2 inches at the top.

May give you enough clearance. I have always had problems with flaring guards as much as you desire. The metal is stretched severely and tends to crack easily and its hard to get a good finish without body filler.

To be honest the paint work is fantastic and the preparation is S###.

As Steve mentioned I got a quote and if it was going to cost more this was not an issue. The company said the doors would not come up to standard. So they helped me source door skins and fitted them. I visted them at least once a week and had a good friendship with the panel staff.

However whoever the painter got to assist in the preparation didn't have a clue. The painter and owner at that time is responsible for ensuring quality. He new of the quality I wanted and stated it is achievable.

On a positive note he rang me yesterday and informed me he was still looking for a suitable unit. He has a booth and painting equipment sitting in Melbourne ready to send. And agreed he would keep me informed and YES he would sort out the car.

Ill wait a bit longer and see what happens

I spoke to a guy with a old holden once and what he had done was interesting.

He went to a spraypainter and using a touchup gun he painted the inside of the lenses with a candy paint in the desired tint. Eg red. Without using a base coat so it was transparent.

Dont know how long it would last but these tail light lenses looked brand new.

I would fit the CA-18 and all the extra bits to the engine bay before painting.

Its alot easier to cut, weld and make things fit.

Plus you dont want to scratch your new paint.
