I agree with the aprox weight of the 4age , last time i weighed a Ca18det it showed around 145-150 kgs , thats with every thing inc starter clutch ect , some of the weights posted on the net are bare engines or with or without flywheel ,cast iron or tube ex manifold ect, So it allways going to be on debatable weights ,unless you compare then with the same accessories on them , So really i don`t want to get arguement on about weights .
a 20v toyota head weights aprox 8kgs more than a 16 v head .

www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZrN5U ... .com/showthread.php?t=716This what i found out about it , and was Lucky to see the car a few weeks back The modern history of the coupe. the Car was purchased October 2007 (in pieces as Murray had stripped it to do it up) and it was registered in April 2008 when it hit the forests for the first time since 1994. Murray did the Kalpowar rally in it in May though it blew the head gasket 50km into the rally. Gallangowan will be its second rally though it have used be in motorkhanas and the autocross track. It is all still original except the gear box (have now found the original box, just got to try to get it back) but had a holinger box from Chris Berry's circuit 1600, the fuel tank had to be replaced as 14 year old avgas does awful things to tanks, the webers went back to Stewie Reid, got some from Wayne Hoy and the Gnome has worked his magic on them and we have put MSD ignition on it and a new intercom. Everything else is original including the terratrip. Even the original bilsteins are still good. Specs : The car is mid engined L20. Escort rack. 510 ute diff with Detroit Locker 4.8 centre. Disc brakes front and rear. 1 1/2 cylinders are in the engine bay, can fit a spare wheel in front of the radiator (which Peter Glennie did). The gear shift lever moves up and down rather than forward and backwards. Haven't weighed it yet but it was 1000kg when it went on the plane to New Guinea. It is a magic little car and an absolute hoot to drive. Murray says it still feels the same as it always did and Iain is very excited to be back in it after 20 years. It is going to be quite special to see them both in action again in it. Next year we'll bring it down to do a few AMSAG events and depending on Murrays schedule it may be at the Alpine as well.

ANOTHER GOOD Toyota Diff option is there "F series" model diff 7.5", Its a 1 size down from the Hilux diff so your getting a weight saving , The crown wheel size is the same as the nissan H190 , stud pattern is the same as the Nissan 4 stud , AS for LSD`s there is a lot to choose from @ the right price , The F series diff came in Live and IRS form , But the same IRS LSD can be used in the Live axle , the factory LSD`s come from a certain model lexus Altezza IS200 and also the Ma61 supra , Aftermarket diffs : Power brute ,Tru - Trac make lsd`s for the front of a IRS series diff in a early model V6 Hilux / 4 runner which is a F series diff . to get the F series live axle you need to Find a MK11 Corona MX113 made in the 70`s or the rear diff in a early model YR22Tarago 4x4 . do a search of Toymods , if you need to find the finer details out alot of guys use them as a up grade for there AE86 sprinters

Beware that the H190 diff centre was made for a lot of years and went through a lot of design changes , like axle size , pinion bearing size , crown wheel bolt size , alloy and iron centres , Diff carrier crownwheel offset , THIS Makes it very hard to Interchange Parts In most cases ,but you can still be lucky on a few parts , The H190 LSD`s that you can buy new out of the USA from Power Brute are for the late model H190`s with the Larger Dia crown wheel bolts , You have to be very careful what crown wheel carrier offset you are buying with this LSD so it matches up with the diff ratio you have . I was close to buying Power brute H190 LSD , BUT didn`t buy a lsd because the offset was not going to be correct for the H190 spec i Have , If anyone has Purchased one of these LSD`s it would be good to know what model spec H190 you are using it in . Iam using TOPGEAR H190 LSD which iam more that Happy with .

I have moulds of the flares , they are only good as a race car flares as they arent the best mould, flares came from a mate who had a 1600 , they are front Flares off a 1600 , but they also fit on the opposite side on the rear if you fit them to the rear guards of a 1200 ..
