Boo!!

How bizarre... How bizarre... I haven't looked at this site for a long and the first time I do I see my name mentioned...

Yes it is possible to sleeve an A series motor, I have one sitting downstairs, 82mm pistons.
This block had my 88mm stroke crank in, 1860cc motor.
I have since taken the crank out and put it in another block with 79mm pistons, 1725cc motor, I've nearly finished screwing this motor together.
I'm just in the process of buying back my old rally car and will be putting the 1725cc motor in that, fed by some 50/48/45mm throttle bodies from Steve Newing.
I have imported a T50 gearbox from Canada which is a close ratio 1:1 fifth straight cut dog box.
The rear end is the one I bought of Feral years ago which is the Datsun Works 240rs triple tube diff housing and the 4.875 big pinion alloy centre with a brand new set of MK63's on it.
If you really want a BIG bottom end D I might consider selling the 82mm sleeve job, I have a few 88mm stroke cranks lying around somewhere and I could graft one into the block for you and you'll have an 1860cc motor.
Food for thought..... 1860cc with the Mazda twin cam head the gentleman has grafted onto an A series block.

I have a new reground camshaft here that I'm not going to use, specs are very close the Ivan Tighe 140 profile, rev range, 3500 - 7500rpm.

http://www.tighecams.com.au/cars.htm

I have a set of lifters here I can get refaced to go with the cam.

It's a two gear drive camshaft, not single drive.

Just let me know.

If anybody is reading this with GA16 motor and is looking for a some head parts I have some I won't be using and are for sale.

- Full overhauled head which has been ported an polished for racing.
- A pair of brand new cast cams, ground for racing, same profile as was run in the turbo Sierra's, it's hard to get a good cam profile because of the small buckets that the GA heads use.
- A new twin weber sidedraft manifold for the GA head, good for weber style TB's.

PM me if you want any further info.

If you did decide to use a GA motor, couldn't you remove the dizzy (so you don't have to cut a hole in your firewall) and use a crank angle sensor?

What you have there dattoman is a T2 gearbox, have a look in the middle and bottom pics and you will see what I mean about the 4 bolt flanged shaft which the throw out bearing carrier slides on, the one in the pic is a round flange where it bolts to the bellhousing and the T3 gearboxs have a square flange.

You are right, the bolt up pattern for the bellhousing to the gearbox is the same for both T2 and T3 and the output shaft spline count differs between the two, looking at the flange type (round or square) is just a quick way of checking what you have.

I'm chasing the square type flange bellhousing with a 68mm input shaft bearing size.

If you google toyota t50 and look at the images there are plenty of pics of the square flange ones.

Got rid of the Getrag boxes a while ago, sold them to buy a new close ratio straight cut dog box out of Canada.

I need to buy a Toyota T50 T3 gearbox to Datsun A series motor bellhousing.

I need the one which has the four bolt, square mounting flange (not the round one) for the throw out bearing slide shaft and to suit the 68mm input shaft bearing, the T2 has the round flange and a 62mm input shaft bearing.

Just throwing it out there if anybody wants to sell theirs before I order one from Dellow.

Post here if you send me a PM.

Have you thought about running the 45's on the A12?

In the 80's I use to race an A12ish motor with 45's on it, worked well, I know of a few other people who are doing it today, ok for race, not much good for around town driving.
I'll see if I still have the choke size that I use to use written down somewhere.

Something to think about for you...
