Daniel_77, there is a Datsun sports steering wheel for sale on a japanese auction site. Its currently 10,000 yen (about $135 Aus). heres the link:
http://www.rinkya.com/twview.pl?URL=http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h16134251

I can't really understand how to use this website, and I don't know if they could send it to Aus. Click on the 'translate to english button', and it makes a bit more sense.. (but not much)

James.

Abyss Thanks for the info. thats exactly what I needed to know. I'm not going to run a booster, I'll see what the pedal feels like first.

Ade, Is it possible to make up new brake lines ? would it be possible to make an extension to the rear line to reach the new master cylinder?
James.

Hi dato1200, If you are in Sydney, K-mac can make you new springs, they are fairly cheap.
http://www.k-mac.com.au
they recently quoted me $165 for a pair of new front springs.

What master cylinder are you using on your 1200?

Maybe your drums are scored or your brake shoes are worn?? You shouldn't have gotten rid of those stanza brakes :)

It doesn't look like much, but it has done the job just fine for 34 years:) I'm going to have a look at pick 'n payless when i get a chance.

Surely someone on here has changed their master cyl to match stanza brakes ?? Whats the best donor vehicle?.. a 120y ?

James

Tonka, I've done this conversion myself. To make the L20 fit your 1600 you need to use the same sump-pan that you have now (the L20 sump will hit the crossmember).
The L20 has a slightly taller block, so you can use the same exhaust manifold, or extractors but you might have to re-work them slightly. (otherwise the exhaust will fowl the floor).
I can't remember which engine mounts I used, but I think the originals fit. I can also vaguely remember some clearance issues with the dip-stick, but it wasn't difficult to solve.

Bonnet clearance is another issue, If use a standard carb, however I ran side draughts.

And yes you can retain the same 180b/1600 gearbox.

Hi guys,
I'm currently upgrading this single master cylinder setup:

I'm putting stanza struts into my 1200 wagon.

What master cylinder should I get from the wreckers? (I've been told 120y is the go) And will I need to get the steel brake lines off the car I take the master cylinder off? Or can I re-bend my old brake lines and 'make' them fit. Thanks.

Crikey, You'd get some good mileage out of an a12 on LPG. With 90 litres on board you'd only have to fill that up what.. quarterly?
