there were some aftermarket kits available that bolted straight into the 310 sunny, I guess one of those would be perfect, came with brackets to bolt the pump to the A series, and the unit bolted up under the glovebox. But I guess it's still a matter of finding one.

Just give them a call and talk to them, explain what you want/need and the y should be able to give you a price to suit. If it's just a plain reset Ballamy & East are the cheapest.
Also I'm home most days so you can pop round anytime.

Just go to Ballamy & East, or Chamberlains, and they will reset yours. Quite cheap too.

The later engines are good ones to get, as theoretically they should have travelled less I know it's broad statement, But I like the rocker cover. It's different

Yeah, they had the funny shaped black rocker cover, would be a good A15 to get hold of.

it will fit straight in, but with any vehicle, I recommend getting it recurved, especially if you have done any engine mods.
You can still use the original coil, but it would be better to use a transistor type coil to give the real benefit of having electronic ignition.

From what I understand, sometime in the 90's they did increase the cabin size, but not enough to warrant calling it an extended cab

Alternator and Dizzy is, but cam wont be, the early cam only has one worm drive that fits oil pump and dizzy, where as the later cam has two worm drives. you can use the later cam in the early engine as the other worm drive becomes redundant. Sometimes the engine mount placing can be different between early and late, but thats more of an issue when going to an A15. Be aware that the mounts that bolt to the block can also have different profiles so don't throw anything away.
