thanks, problem is, seeing i got a different (few years newer i think) g/box installed a while ago, the cable dosnt fit properly, the end of it fits on the clutch lever, but the end of the cable housing where it seats up agains the g/box dosnt fitin the hole.
ive never actually had the car moving, (bought it as a project a few months back)
i'll try and do the handbrake thing tomorrow and see if that helps.
any other ideas anyone??

the clutch on my '74 120y coupe isnt disengaging!!!
this isnt anything to do with the pedal as i have disconected it from the pedal and am just having someone pull the cable as far as it goes.
it seems the lever on the g/box isnt moving as far as it should be.
can anyone think of what the problem is??

this is what the LTSA here in n.z says about engine swapping stuff......
"if the new engine is the same type and size then no documentation is required. We simply need to amend our records to reflect the new engine number. If the CC rating alters by 20% or more you are required to have a Low Volume Code inspection (you will be issued with a Modification Certificate)."
