yeah pretty much spot on with your description... and yes its a R200
each side of the diff centre uses a a tapered bearing with shims either side. inside the diff there are pressure plates and clutches, and you can tell its a 1.5 just by looking at the ramps on the wedge, like you described.
so regarding the clearances on the thrust block.. im having trouble visualising it. either side of the tapered bearings you have the race, then on one side a thick shim about 15mm wide, and then on both sides thin shims about 3mm wide. everything seems to be a tight fit...

I recently installed a 1.5 way mechanical LSD in my car. Performance wise i am very happy, although there is one thing bugging me - the noises. I am familiar with the usual clunks and skips, which are fine by me, but for some reason on very tight turns i get a grinding/whirring sort of sound coming from the left or right depending on which way im turning. Im not sure if this is normal... it basically only happens with u-turns and at things like round-abouts. Its definitely coming from the diff.
I also noticed when i installed it, in the middle of the diff where the output shafts meet as a washer. it seemed to be floating around, but definitely meant to be in there... i tapped in one shaft, lined the washer up in its seated position inside, and tapped in the other. Could this be the source of the problem/noise? How can i tell if the shafts are sitting on 100% correctly?

Quote: Given all the parameters above, with perfect 100% traction, a slip proof clutch, AWESOME TORQUE, & the best driver in the world, i recon, i...i... i recon you could get it down to 6 seconds,... no wait, with acid dipped body & alloy bumpers & a 2" top chop, you could probably do a high 5. Yeah, perfect traction, no busted bits .................... why be a smart ass for? what i said is realistic, dont know what your on about... i said nothing about perfect traction, i said good traction. just that i have a 230kw S13 that can run a high 11 with decent semi-slicks, with what i would call 'good traction'...

Just wanting to know whats the biggest tyre width you can fit on a 1200 coupe with leafs? i understand the leafs are what prevents the tyres from sitting in more... so i guess the next limiting factor are the guards. generally how much can you 'pump' the guards?

worked CA or SR with HKS 3037... hasn't been done yet, but power output should not be a problem. just wondering if there is any physical clearance problems with such a setup?

if a 1200 could put out 300kw at the tyres with an awesome torque curve and a high average power, and assuming everything holds up and nothing breaks, and has good traction all the way... what sort of 1/4 time could one expect?

is it possible to use S13 (180sx) coilovers in a 1200 coupe, using the S13 lower control arms, spindles, etc? it looks as if it should all go in ok, just concerned about what to do with the castor rods and swaybar...

I have a 1200 coupe, and an looking at front suspension upgrade options...
can S13 struts be used with S13 uprights/hubs, calipers/rotors, lower control arms, castor rods, etc?
what else can be done? what about the back, and converting to the 4 link setup?
