Hey, a wiring diagram? I would like one, please send me.
Many wires hang here and there in my 1200 pickup. Been wondering where they originally were connected to, otherwise everyting seems to work fine.

I had exactly the same problem sometimes back. I was almost blaming the starter or switch!
I think the main cause is bad contact due to leaking battery hence dirty terminals.
Another cause could be Hard Starting which drains the battery as you try many, many times to start the car. This happens to me a lot.
I cleaned the battery and terminals thoughly. I then reduced the battery water level: IT WAS TOO HIGH leading to leaking. It improved.

I got this somewhere: HARD STARTING
1. Choke (Enrichener system) plugged, not properly functioning or improperly operated. 2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Restricted fuel supply. No fuel in float bowl.
4. Fuel overflow.
5. Plugged slow jet or passages
6. On high compression (over 10:1) engines, excessive voltage drop to the ignition coil can cause hard starting. A clear indication that this is the problem is that the engine wants to start after releasing the starter button.
1. Clean, adjust or replace; or read Owner

I am in your shoes. I am Kenyan. My carburator is giving me hell too!!
1. It floods when driven for long in low gears 2. The float has been adjusted many times in vain. 3. The adjustment is estimated coz I do not have Owner's Manual 4. The engine hesitates on acceleration (to near stalling) 5. Consumes lots os fuel: 8-11km per litre
Imagine I am forced to touch fuel many times in the morning to drain it off! I feel so bad I want to change the carb too. But something tells me something is wrong coz other people's similar cars are fine, even older ones!!!
Mine is: - Datsun 1200 Pickup - Make 1993 - 1171cc

My Datsun 1200 half-tone Pickup, (Make 1993) consumes a lot of fuel. Average of 8-11km per litre.
I have two problems:
1. I checked the jets and they are: Idle Jet - 97 Main Jet - 135
From your experience, which combination is the best for economy. Someone told me 85 and 97 will do. Another said 80 amd 100 will.
2. The car hesitates whenever I accelarate. I have cleanup the carburator a number of times in vain.
Please I really need your expertise!

It's a good site. I found some manuals for Datsun 1200 until 1973.
None at the moment for later models - 1993+
Still looking out if someone has soft-copy of this.

Does anyone have this manual? I will really appreciate.

Thanks & regards AlphDoti
