Thanks DD.

Tell me, from what donor cars does these 32/36 weber carbis com from, and besides these webers,
is there any others carbis that can fit on the stock a12 manifold with perhaps only an adapter base plate.{for better performance on take off}

These twin Hitachis you spoke about, are kinda hard to find in good working order around these parts.

Thanks again

I have an a14 carbi on my datsun 1200.

I would like more power, so I would like to purchase the stock SU carbis and manifold from a 1200gx.

However, before I do so, I would just like to know a few things.

1. Is the SUs high maintenance and will it be possible to service them myself easily.
2. Is there parts{kits} for these carbis available, new.
3. How drastic will the fuel consumption be.
4. Is there anything that I can do, to improve the a14 carbi, for more perfomance.
5. Is the SU's a better option than the webers.

Please guys, any suggestions welcome.
I want performance and reliability as well.

Oh another thing,
Is it true, that a 1200 with these SUs can take on an newer model 1400 ute on take ofF.
If true, I want the SUs, but first, your opinions.

Get a ew bottles of engine cleaner like Prepsol, clean green, etc.
Easily available and cheap.
Oh and dont forget the broom, a hard bristled one.

Hey guys.

My carbis always acting up, cause of dirty fuel.
I just put in a new petrol filter but noticed the petrol in the carbi reservoir being very very dirty.

Any suggestions as to how to go about cleaning the fuel tank{the easy way}, cause this is surely the problem.

Remember my cars approx 30 yrs old.

Morning all.

I also own a Skyline gtx, but use the datsun1200 to work everyday, cause its economical and bloody reliable. But the take of power sucks,
So I'm thinking of using the SKyline to work more often, but this will cause a dent in my budget
I want more take off power, cause the datto does a lot of robot to robot driving

I have an a14 carbi on my datsun 1200.

Hi all.

Just would like to know.

How may silencer{muffler} boxes does a stock 1200 delux sedan has.

Mine has only one, is this right.

My exhaust system is pretty new,and is stainless steel, but it doesnt sound normal.
It's quite noisy, sounds like it has a booster box fitted.

What is the correct size of the exhaust{diametre} of the 1200 Datsuns.

Thanks guys.

I agree with Datto7.

However try and keep it looking standard, with maybe just a set of sexy mag wheels and a good spray job.{i'd suggest}
Keep the chromework polished.

The datsun looks very appealing and stands out from these modern monotonous designed cars.

Remember

OLD IS GOLD

Right on, Dodgeman.

That's correct I meant "Steering wheel", sorry about that guys.

You see, the original s\wheel is a bit to big and mostly to thin around which to hold.

The sports s\wheels are nice, but me personally, dont find them comfortable like the stock ones that comes on other cars.

I'm sure alot your guys have changed to more comfortable s\wheels.
What I'd really like to have is the 2 door GX s\wheel.
This at least would keep to originality.
But its hard to find a good condition one around here.

Another thing,
the nissan 1400 utes{newer mods} down here came out with smart s\wheels. {sports type}
Would this fit on my 1200 delux?

Thanks guys

Hey,

If money anf\d speed's the issue here, I'll suggest putting in another motor, like an L series, or sentra twincam motor bought 2nd hand from places like Jap Motors, Motor exchange, etc here in SA.
I'm sure yould like to have power like the guys youve seen here In SA with the 1400 bakkies,
and believe me,those guys at the races have mainly put in L series, sentra, and rotary engines.

Dont get me wrong, the a14 motor can be worked, but it wouldnt last as long as you would like it to and then yould be dissapointed with money spent on it , rather go bigger motor.

Oh and as reboring, this will normally be decided on, if you have a ridge on the block.
I would suggest, taking it to the engineers to have it checked out if there a ridgethat cannot be honed out, they will then decide as to how many Thou to rebore and size of pistons to use.

Just letting you know about my trials and errors and successes.
