Hey L18,
just about to start building the next race coupe and will be using a L20 / 5 speed / H190. Did you have to modify the tunnel a lot? ie, was it a little cutting & stretching or should I cut the tunnel out of my bluebird parts car and graft a lot of it into the coupe?? Any hints or suggestions greatly appreciated !!
Cheers
P.S. Good luck with the hillclimb - I hear Mt Cotton can bite !

Hey fatdat,
I have a new M/C for disc brake front. Let me know if you still need one.

Hey woodydat,
sorry to hear that they won't interchange but at least you have H190 to sell! Typical luck for me though, thought I might get a decent ratio out of this wagon but got a dud instead. Dodgeman says it should have a H190 and I got a "ring in" H165. Do you know what ratio it is ? Might be interested if you mant to offload it. Sorry for any confusion!!
Cheers

Hey Dodgeman,
How much too wide is the ute diff for your 1000 ? Have you considered reducing tube length on a ute diff - there is a resonable amount of spline unengaged so a minor shortening is possible without resplining perhaps? Just a thought.

Hello Dodgeman,
sorry if my info seems misleading, but I have a 5 speed b/b wagon in the shed that I'm pulling apart and it has an 8 bolt H165(b) ?? diff with a 35/9 centre. The alloy centre H190 I got out of an urvan has 10 bolts but appears to use the same size and spline axles as the H165. I defer to those of you with greater knowledge - especially you and feral - but this is what I have in my possession at present. Don't want to confuse anyone but am I right or missing something obvious ??
Cheers

woodydat,
yes I think the centres may interchange, but the overall width of the housing (drum to drum) will be bigger by about 90mm (or thereabouts) Therefore your Bluebird housing will not only be too wide without flares, the spring platforms will be too wide apart. You would have to get them relocated to match the narrower spring width. Not impossible but not a 5 minute job either! As for the bluebird struts, the spring platforms have to be removed and 1200/stanza ones welded on. Also might be an issue with bottom arms and ball joint angles but other posts have covered this in the past I think. Much easier solution is to use stanza struts and have no drama - you get the same brakes without the headaches! Not claiming to be an expert here but bolting up is easier than cutting up! Good luck.
Cheers
P.S. Before I get chastised - the H190 has 10 bolts, couldn't remember at the time

Thought they had H165 or H165B. The H190 axles I have look the same as B/B (ie H165B). I am betting that all the 165 centres (B/B, C20 and maybe ute) will all interchange. H190 has more bolts (9??) and therefore will be the odd one out. Dodgeman or Feral will correct me here but I think I'm pretty close to the mark.
Cheers
P.S I am planning to put the C20 housing in the race car and use both the 4.8:1 C20 centre and the Bluebird 3.9:1 and if I find one, a 4.1:1 ute centre.

Hey Silverbak,
not too sure what you mean by the sizes, but yes it will accept your 42mm weber. I had a 45mm bolted to it - the bodies are all the same. It is a redline manifold made for this specific combination so you should have no problems. Do get your carby set up to suit your motor (jetting / tubes etc.) so that it will roar rather than gurgle (lol). Call me on 0415 107 090.
Cheers

Hey SILVERBAK,
I have a single weber manifold to suit A12 (round port). It is brand new - started the car once - and been in the cupboard since. You can have it for $80.00. Let me know if you want it.

evilsim,
to my knowledge all gemini springs are the same (both early and late model). However, did the earlier post say to use a standard rate shortened spring ? Aftermarket lowered may be a little stiffer and hence too stiff for a street car - only a thought. I hope my brother still has a supply of stock springs so I can try it out for myself I suppose it is just a matter of matching the free lengths and working from that point back to the ride height you want.
Cheers
