I agree Dodgeman. I think that most drivelines suffer when introduced to shock loadings rather than horsepower applied in a linear fashion. The H145 and stock 4 speed still function (touch wood ) despite a bit of curry !! I use a good oil in the box - Castrol Syntrans M (has a new name now I think) and make sure any driveline slack is taken up by the clutch before letting it loose .Despite H165 and even H190 being stronger, the axles are still not massive so one still has to be aware that extreme shock loads will soon find any weaknessess in any system. Component upgrades are good - common sense is better .

Sorry mate but the dash was scooped up by DF1200 a couple of weeks ago. The rest of the car will be my next race car. I did see Dave's reskinned dash pad and it looks as new, so if it's just the vinyl that is crook then go for a reskin.

man, I'm scared just looking at that set up Doesn't really say STOP!! does it (lol) But you are carrying less weight therefore theoretically quicker than dual cylinder ?
Good luck with the upgrade !

Rick,
got one in my racecar and just followed the instructions in the box - no problem
Must be an installation problem I suspect. Follow disco stu's advice I reckon and it should be sweet.
Good luck.

Hey Dave,
is the 56 series box the standard 1200 ribbed box ?? If so, I have 3 of them at home so give me a call if they suit.

Gday mikali,
two reasons really. One is that I thought the 1200.com guys should stick together a little . I would much rather see the dash go into a restorer or neat street car rather than have it cut up for monster tach or stereo fitment - would be a shame !! The other is that I've had a couple of people tell me that the dash and doors especially are going to be hard to find in this condition ever again - hence I'm kind of leaning toward keeping it. The price issue is to give an indication of their worth and to attract buyers and not dreamers. The dash is an original and not recovered and even the door trims are ace. Even if I do keep the shell as the next race car, the dash will still be sold as it is too good for a race car and is better off being used.TUFDAT (Rick) can fill you in on it's originality etc as he has seen it. Anyway, full points for the keen observation !!
Cheers

ca18,
good to see so many dattos converging on the hill at Bathurst How can I get hold of details and entry form etc? I assume it will be run by BLCC - do you know if entry can be downloaded from their website or by post only Will enjoy seeing a herd (gaggle? flock?swarm - no that would be rotaries lol) of coupes racing together - bit like a holy pilgrimage some might say !!!! "Keep th dream alive - don't build it for show, GET OUT AND DRIVE "

Hey Converted,
yes it's always the same - we always find another option after the event . We only really do welded cages (you have to get the clamps from Bond so the cost is not worth us to do 1 off bolt in pieces ). Apart from that, we would need the car to shape and fit the bars. I'll bet your cage and car is already painted (Murphy's law !!!!). Cost would depend on access and degree of difficulty as small size changes in material are negligable but time spent in difficult areas eats up the $$$. Price however would not be extreme as we both race and will help out genuine people where we can.
Cheers
