because "welding" the centre changes the metallurgial properties of the centre.

we're talking about hi-tensile material here, so to make the weld a "proper" weld and completely failsafe, after welding you need to heat the whole centre up to a dull orange and then let it cool slowly. then heat it up to an almost yellow colour, then let it cool slowly.

then the weld will be of the same quality as the surrounding material.

welded centres in frequent drag racing use WILL fail - which is why all the top guys use full spools. you don't want a weld to bust under full power and transerring 90% of the load to the unbusted weld, which makes the car lurch sideways, then makes that weld bust and then the car swings the OTHER way and then you are back to a single spinner with bits of weld floating around inside the housing running the risk of them jaming the gears and porviding full rear lock up - - - all at 100+mph.

you can get monaro mudguard flutes from rare spares in metal for $45 a side.

a recessed bonnet perforation would be very cool indeed.

sidedraught's idea is also a good one. -great for sleeper value.

Mark,

I think i'm being converted. Ive seen the quality of your kit and i have to say, it's a lot better than the agricultural kits previous that put me off.

your pricing seems high at first, but then i costed an intercooler with a decent size core, fittings, clamps, hoses and labour and all of a sudden your kit comes out on top.

considering i personally have very minimal room for an intercooler, and plumbing for twins is difficult at best with an intercooler (sorry, after cooler) your kit is growing on me very, very fast.

My Idea for My A12Turbo.
Get a Cr ratio of about 7.5:1, find a cam wid lots of valve lift and the lowest amount of duration 280 degress or less. proper fuel and spark delivery, a good sized turbo and 20psi of boost ad u should get atleast 200hp it it all holds together

i would use EFI with good intercooling and push for at least 8.0:1 CR.

the more static CR you have, the more responsive the engine will be.

for every 3psi boost you add, your CR goes up by one point. so 20 psi on 7.5:1 CR would be about 14.5:1 total CR under boost.

RX7 turbo is too big.

use a WRX or forester turbo.

use the A14 - it's ability to rev will make more power - not more capacity and less revs with a longer stroke - the turbo will give you al the torque you require.

remember, torque x rpm = horsepower. taking away the rpm by fitting a longer stroke engine doesn't make up for more torque.

A cheaper alternative for detonation resistance, is to add an extra injector (or two) spraying in toluene. Use a dedicated EFI fuel pump for the system.

Control it with either a fuel only ECU, Hobb's switch, or cam operated micro switch depending on budget and performance requirements and away you go. Water is for fish to swim in

please elaborate...?
