definitely the style of the car, not what running gear it has.
i would consider my 240C olskool for sure, even though it has a 1UZFE and is copping XA falcon discs and 4 spot calipers, purely because i run 14in steelies with dogtin hubbies, std ride height, all chrome trims and black sheepskin seatcovers and a rear venetian.

it looks olskool, but i have a modern powerplant up front and rack and pinion steering.

otherwaise you're talking ratrod style - i mean, who wants an original car that you have spent a motza on only to be left with less oomph than a hyundai, 4 wheel drum brakes and a 4spd manual?

not me.

gimme the style anyday, but gimme the modern technology in it like EFI, r&p steering and a nice buzzing quad cam V8.

that's interesting roddat, i would like to know if HQ discs fit my 240C front end ('a' arms style, similar to kingswood), i could use the VL calipers and slotted and vented HQ rotors for a true bolt on fit under the std 14in rims.

might have to do some measuring on the weekend! Quote:

HQ disks will bolt on to 240k or 200b sx struts but you will have to make up a bracket to suit the vl brakes

20th of june

i think you mean 4th of July.

but i know you just copied that from the OZDAT post - just clearing up confusion.

guys i would like to see serious show of datsun this time. no forgetting, no sick budgies, no hangovers. be there to help get this club off the ground or enjoy your shed and driving your datsun by yourself.

grant, deza, rick, aaron and myself have put a lot of effort into this for everyone's benefit - so we would like to see the effort reciprocated now.

thanks. see you all on the 4th.

If anyone seriously thinks that the rego nazis will limit a blown big block Chev to 9lb boost, just because it is in a pre 1949 car, but happily allow unlimited boost in the same engine when it is fitted to a post '48 car, i would suggest that you ask yourself if you really think that they are actually that stupid.

the NHRA and the RTA have been working very close with each other on this legislation.

i believe the act you are referring to is to do with reproduction chassis and bodies and pretty much anything with a 'glass body. what they're trying to encourage is original bodies on newer and better designed repro chassis.

the maximum engine size for a "hot rod" is 460ci under the new rules, which includes a turbocharged engine with a max limit of 9psi on a 351ci engine. any more than 9psi and you have to reduce the engine size accordingly, but this sliding scale isn't available yet.

note the ford ci sizes there, their equivelant chevy engines are smaller (454 and 350) but the same rule applies.

you could always declare a 351ci engine with 9psi, and then turn it up for the track, but 9psi is the limit for street use.

so, 20psi on your A14 is perfectly acceptable.

sliding scale, remember.

i think you're right phunkdoktaspok - but wouldn't using A12 rods on an A12 crank in an A14 block give you something like 5.5:1 CR with A14 pistons? i mean, it wouldn't be coming too far up the bore, would it...?

would rev nice and easy though...
