Thanks Andrew, I was also wondering if you would know if the Gtst & GTR callipers were the same calliper, or if not, at least the same dimensions, in which case i could use the 280mm disc. I know its probably over kill but he's giving them to me for free.
I'm only guessing (im no expert when it comes to this stuff) that there would be extra load on the hub, which srut would siut best 180b stanza or other?? and what hub?
P.S How does your beast Stop?

Hi ca18det man
I was going through the pics & i came across ur mod. front struts, Nice job. i'm going to recieve a mates R32 GTR calipers as he is upgrading, are the ones u used gtr or gtst like ur discs. The standard R32 GTR discs are 296mm, is that too big to fit inside a 15 inch rim with the caliper. I really want to use them but dont know if its possible, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Sarav1200

Thanks anyway ddgonal.
Hey A14Force I thought this was a Datsun/nissan friendly site. Putting Skyline GTR and dunny doors in the same sentence, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Hi
Dodgeman & L18_B110 know their stuff.
I just want add a couple of things, being a Carby guy.
The biggest problem with SU carbs besides the excessive wear they are prone to in the throttle shafts & bushes which happens because they are both made out of brass,(this can be fixed permanantly by installing teflon bushes & new shafts) is LINKAGE SETUPS thats where the myth comes from.
The "coming out of tune thing" is because the majority of people out there using multiple SU's have absloutly disgusting linkage setups. You can NOT tune and balance any multiple carb setup which has crap linkages.
Always use rosejoints, high quality thottle arms and correct tension return springs on each carb(SU). Theres only two main jet sizes for SU's,90thou & 100 thou, depending on the model. There are many metering pins. Once you get the pins right and good linkage system SU's are excellent.
Theres a lot less stuffing around with a 32/36 weber, and they are a good carb so dont go chucking your DGV just yet. They are very low maintanence once jetted correctly.
As for the Hitachi's (SU type) definatly dont throw them out. They are original equipment, and in my opinion work better than a lot of the SU models. The kits are getting very expensive for them.
Anyway, hope that shed some light.
P.S LINKAGES!!!!!!!!!!!

HI guys
I have a friend who's uprgrading his R32 GTR brakes, perfomance & race brake kits in OZ are very expensive. Theres a company over there called AEM Power that has big brakes at good prices but dont have kits for Skylines. Were Skyline GTR's imported to America?
Do you know of any place over there that would supply big race brakes for GTR's, or any wreckers that would sell the standard R33 GTR Brembo brakes, see'ing as they are hard to source here & in high demand.
Hope you can help. I'm hoping to use his old calipers on my 1200(dont know if its possible yet)
Thanks Sarav1200

Hey Rueby_Tueasdy
Are the carbs you have Hitachi or SU?
SU carbs bore sizes are not metric (mm) they r in inches ( inch & three quater or 2 inch etc...) Have you got 2 different sized carbs?

SU is the brand name, it stands for Skinners Union. As for the differances between carbs (weber,SU or other) & carb types (downdraft, sidedraft & even the old clanger updrafts) theres a lot to explain, my post would be pages long. There's a decent article in the Tech Section thats worth checking out.
Without going int to much detail, the SU is a single throat "variable venturi" sidedraft carb, it only has one jet (main jet) in which a tapered metering pin slides up and down through, depending on air speed (throttle opening/revs) this meters your fuel. They are a great carb when set up correctly.
A Weber sideraft is a twin throat(two barrel) fixed venturi carb it has many fuel metering systems(circiuts) pump/ idle/choke enrichment/progression or transfer/main. The right amount of air fuel mixture is regulated by a lot of jets and two emulsion tubes. these carbs can be set up for almost any engine, even the venturi's are interchangable. They are an awsome carb. Getting them set up correctly is an art, but believe me its all worth it when youve finally got them spot on.
