Thanks Feral I think i"ll go with the CA, but that micra engine sounds good, 57 kilo's! & 165hp thats awsome! Has anyone ever done the conversion? It's front wheel drive so what box would you use?
Datsik, I'm not quite sure either. Some of the race guys would know.

Hi
An adapter plate kit for DGAV should 40 odd bucks
As for your choke, inside the choke housing is a bi-metal strip(its in coil) as ur engine warms up the water runing through the outer part of the choke housing gets the whole unit hot,the bi-metal strip then un-winds & ur choke starts to come off.If ur fast idle setting is correct & ur choke pull-off(choke unload) is also set correct & the diaphragm isnt rooted the choke should work fine.
$80 is cheapish depending on its condition, you would be lucky if it had the correct jetting for ur A series.
You could use an electric choke off an ADM (XE,XF Falcon) they r meant to run 8 volt but 12 works fine.
Put a kit through it and go from there. watch for loose aux...venturi's

Hi DATSIK
Would a higher PMOI make a car's handling more predictable in terms of O,steer?

Hi Feral
I think i understand PMOI a little better now.
Keeping the cars over-all weight down is obviously a good thing, and the performance of the cars you mentioned in your post sorta surprised me,although i do know that high hp engine or not it all comes down to getting power to the tar. Theres no substitute for a well set up suspension system.
I'm no expert on setting up 1200's for optimum handling.I've certainely never built one for racing(there are probably many race proven setups) i just need information, my last post was based on general rules of a well handling car ie even weight dist.. & maximum tyre contact to the road through cornering ,not on proven combinations on 1200's
I want 200 RELIABLE hp i didnt think this could be achieved with an A series, thats why i was asking about the CA18DE as it's a lighter engine than the alternative(SR20)
I want a 200hp N/A 1200 with exceptional handling, what do you suggest?
P.S I havnt forgotten about the L series, im just not a big fan of it. Should i be?
Please point me in the right direction
Thanks Sarav1200

Hi guys
Thought i might join in, this is an interesting thread. Let me see if i understand this correctly. What you guys are saying is that, assuming MUDFLAP has got it right he has fit a heavier engine (CA18DE) further disturbing the cars standard 56/46 front rear weight ratio, then fit modified 200sx IRS in the rear (again assuming he's got it right) acheiving 50/50 or there abouts, you're saying that even though he's got a well balanced car with IRS the handling and traction improvents to his car are simply over riden by the extra weight over all, or that the improvent is only minimal when compared to a well set up live axle.
Have i got all that right?
Can someone give me a definition of PMOI?

P.S May the DAT be with you

Thanks Andrew sounds like a good place to start, I'd be quite happy with 200hp, then again figuires like 350-400hp have a way of changing peoples minds.

Thanks for that,I was also tossing up the idea of using carbs(45 DCOE or 48 DCO)depending on what sort of power u can ring out of these engines,do you think this would be a good move?standard efi would be more efficient & cheaper but im a sucker for good old fashioned induction roar

HI Guys
I am interested in the CA18DE Engine. There is a interesting picture of one in the engine pics section,Iwould like to know more about the throttle bodys/Manifold used in this particular setup.
If anyone has had a go at building A CA18de for Sreet/circuit please let me know.
Dats all
