check the underneath where the sub frame meets the floor pan. the bottom of the rear quater panels is another spot. Its not hard to take out the inserts either side of the wheel arch and have a look/feel right down the bottom. (just don't bother with the one near the fuel filler, you won't get far!) behind the compliance plate, as already mentioned in the engine bay is a typical spot, and behind the fender at the bottom, just in front of the door. check the frame under the fender while your there.

price also varies according to where you are. $5000 in WA will get you a really good one in stock condition. I picked mine up for $2000, requiring work, with rust.

I should have specified that it is a downdraught weber.

The idea I was referring to was to unbolt it from the manifold, rotate it 180 degrees, and bolt it back on. (I'll try be more specific in future)
I gather this is what you mean by putting it backwards on the manifold???

I tried that, no go, its too low, so it hits the intake.

It does not matter however if it it mounted on the engine facing left, right, foward, or backwards, just as long as the air passes through it in the right direction.

so your saying it makes a difference, but its not noticable/doesn't matter???

got my L20b motor in, along with box, and everything else. the L20b came with a weber, which i still have on it. The 200b has a "mechanical" throttle (not cable) which has to be converted to cable. I have all the attachments etc. so that side of it isn't a problem. the problem is that the lever that the cable hooks up to now pulls the wrong way. (with this setup, and the current cable has to push instead of pull)

The long and short of it is, can i turn my weber around (so that the side facing the rear of the car now faces the front) or do i have to get a longer throttle cable and run it around the engine bay so that it approaches the weber from the other side???
some one told me that it makes a difference which way the weber goes on.

the front tyres rub the inside of the wheel arch back towards the firewall

(assuming this is the other side of the foot-well) thats probably because of the wider tyres. just use a hammer, like everyone else, and give yourself and passenger a little bit less foot room for the noise. or possibly space the steering out so that the wheels don't turn as far. cuts down the turning circle, but hey, the turning circles that tight anyway... (I haven't looked into this, a mate suggested it to me)

I have 195/60/r14's on my ute, front and rear. the "flare" on each fender has been trimmed (so minor you wouldn't notice) at the front to let them fit. other than that, they rub with the wheels nearly at full lock. (thats the only time, but i generally don't reverse fast)
The only problem i have is the front wheels hitting the top of the fender... getting flares soon (this arvo, fingers crossed)
