I've got a spare 1/4 window laying around somewhere, but I think you mean the big one. my mates got a paddok basher (sedan) that still has glass (last time i saw it) and doors that are tech screwed shut (left it laying around my place too long ) you could pinch the hinge off that, except its a half hour drive away . won't be going there for a while, so if you can wait a while (like a month or so...) you can have it for cheap

where abouts are ya a student at anyway?

my mum has one in her 92 pintara, and quite frankly it does have a bit of go but is not the strongest motor

is the standard pintara (4cyl) motor a CA20, or is this just the later models???

the older pintara model motor is a good one, as long as you don't work it too much. they're nice and small aswell. should drop straight into a 1200. why don't people do this conversion??? i originally wanted to do this rather than the L20b...

1200s and Zcars (proper Z cars - ie 2 seaters) have almost identical wheelbases

yes, but aren't they lower???
and the weight appears to be distributed more rearward, which would make it handle a lot different.
I'm no expert, (I've never driven a Z car) but I just had to put something here.
As a general rule, you want a car that has about 50:50 weight distribution (would this be correct?)

just don't choose a ute. they get sliding easy, they just don't get a controlled slide happening very quickly. something like an 80:20 weight distribution
(L18_b110, I've got my clutch fitted!)

Stuff like this makes me sick. thats why i try do everything myself. I'm hoping to repaint my car soon. It works out a whole lot cheaper, if you have the room. that way if anything goes wrong, you only have yourself to blame.

tommy, why on earth are they draining your coolant to change the exhaust???
idiots...

hmmm... only 40L? I thought the main reason you'd get one would be to increase the amount of fuel you carry around. I found the 37L one rather small with my old 2L motor. (or maybe it was just that my foot was too heavy... )
50 or 60L would be better. but, yes it would be heavier. If i wanted to increase my fuel, i'd look into putting another tank in, opposite the original.
a) 75L or there abouts (fill it up for as much as you need... no extra weight unless you want it)
b) leaves the tray free for other bits and pieces. a ute is used to put things in... not fuel tanks...

my 5c anyway...
