- those are actual factory figures for both the WRX and the datsun 1000 Coupe, not the 1200 which is bigger. i get 100 hp as an estimate looking at A14/15's n/a modded on this site, the engines section etc. drivetrain loss would be greater in the awd than the rwd subaru wrx doesnt have a flat torque curve, it has hell lag below 3'000 rpm. flat torque curves matter in everyday driving not flat out acceleration bec u are redlining around peak powerthen dropping the tacho back into peak torque band not into low slow revs with the next gear.
it seems the guys with FJ, CA18 and SR20 series transplants are easily smokin wrx's tho with 30-50% more hp. another way of looking at it might be actual 1/4 mile or 400m times, a wrx stock runs high 14's as a comparison, so ill post that qn.

reading here it seems easy enough to get 100hp or 75kw from a modded A14, if the car weighs 630kg it gives pwr to weight of about 8.4 kg/kw, Subaru WRX is 1340 Kg /160 Kw, also about 8.4 kg/kw due to the datsuns short gearing, in theory it should accelerate as fast 0-100 kmh as a WRX, or am i dreamin?

I would go a lot lower profile than 60 series in upgrading from a stock 12 to a 14 inch, if stock is 70 or 75 series witha 13 you should go to 60 or 65 and with a 14 in probably a 50 series or even lower if the width is 195 or bigger. also rather than pump out the guard i would roll the guard lip, this way it should clear and if it does touch it would just rub instead of cut into tyre, also dont need to raise ride height.

Just to intro myself, have had 5 Datsun 1000's since 1988, the last one stolen after i polished it and parked it out front of my house. so if anyone in Perth sees a red 1000 2 door dumped or parked anywhere let me know, its probably mine-. Apart from that I have a 1000 Coupe with an A14 transplant, thats in storage and hasnt been run since 1998 quite good condition but want to do full restorn to concourse condn. any other 1000 drivers ? Cheers
