i'm a bit nervous now

i'm 100% sure that this car will not run to potential, but i appreciate the support! it's become a bit of a sentimental favourite now, after it winning the hands down "bodgeyest looking car" at the nats. that and the little working bee, its the peoples car! i now run for every backyard mechanic who can't afford the showcar they truly dream about

well, heres something different...

i am a "residential care worker" for the Salvos. you know all the kids you see stealing cars and going for joyrides on the news, thats who i work with. I do shifts where i sleep at the Unit, basically organising their lives a little (when they listen). there are three 16 year old boys in the unit i work in. all under government custody orders for various reasons.

in the footy season i run a recreation program for "marginalised" people. people with drug and alchohol issues, homelessness issues, mental health.

the footy is very rewarding, the resi work usually just gives me the ####s.

ok CAman, thats still a good price. i've got a gassed up MIG which i can use, i was under the impression you bought a lot of pipe and hired a big pipe bender or something! are there certain places that do these "kits" down my way, or is it a very specialised industry?

pics will come with the delivery of the car... soon.
all i've seen of the brakes are that it has vented front disks, some sort of locked diff and its fairly stiff all round.

yep, i'm 98% in. the wagon is still running in a bad state of tune, waiting on my eprom burner from holland still! now aiming for whatever comes really, but 13's is the innitial goal. it'll be a good benchmark for further outings. daveman is coming along with his TO4'd FJ20ET TRX. there are a lot listed previously who can't make it tho.

c'mon boys, it'll be fun.

cool, thanks for the tips. i think i'll be definately sticking with the a-14 then for now. my rough plan is get it a little better sorted and enter in a few club events during this year and get some track time up. i'm also playing around with a series injection. but my improved production motor and class theories may take a little more time to develop. keep the suggestions coming.

benny... what induction and cam and internals do you have. 1:17 aint bad, the budget L series 1600's on sunday were doing 1:15 - 1:16. its a good benchmark.

yeah, the bug bit

i have raced a little, and a good mate of mine is turning his car into an improved production racer, which got me thinking. and i got the car really cheap.

i've definatley got questions! the cage is alloy, but has been previously logbooked. i think this means i can chase it up and the cage will be ok. can i add a front to the existing logbooked cage?

the car would not have raced in anything special, but used to have quite a strong motor and the brakes and suspension have had some attention, i'm just not sure to what extent.

so i really don't know how far i need to go and what class i want to race in if i'm just going to try it on a small budget for the time being. i thought about under 2lt with an SR20DE, or an A12ET. under 3lt with i destroked CA18DET, or just try with the a14 after a freshen up??? what's a nice entry level class to step into or are they all very competitive?

what else do i need? foam fuel cell? cams approved seat or harness? i'm just doing the sums atm.

they'll fit, but only after you make new rails to attatch them to your 1200 ones. so the actual seat will fit, the current rails will not tho.
