sorry to go off track but nizmo wernt you debating whether rally cars are allowed to run a-14's with me, because here you tell us of an existing 1200 rally car competing with an a-14, doesnt that mean it must be allowed? you seemed to think it wasnt
not that ive done any research since weve talked about it yet

it didnt like youre email address so ill chuck it here as some other people might be iterested aswell
g'day paul,
the story with the diff is two plates are fitted in with springs applying equal pressure on either side, proving a break away pressue of appox 50 psi (lsd is about 75-85psi i think and standard open diffs are about 20-25 psi) so its a midway thing, but it only costs $250 to get fitted and has proven to last 3 rally seasons quite regularly, when it does die the diff acts open centre and costs $100 or $150 to make like brand new again, the guy that did it for me takes youre diff centre for approx. 10 days so you need alternate for mean time. the only restrictions as far as the car goes is that it will fit all diffs except 2 he found he could do so far (i think charade and some other small thing) so h190 is no prob and other restriction is the car has to have less than 200hp (at wheels i think it is) so it can deffinetly be done to youre diff. apparently there are a few guys around doing this conversion but the guy that did it for me is called "Tayell Automotive" in East Bentleigh Melbourne Ph: (03) 9579-5529 and John is the blokes name
as far as driving charachteristics it basically acts like an LSD, as in both wheels will put power to the ground but when turning the outside wheel will be allowed to spin faster and not harm turning or scrub tyres, also im told it will not push you through a corner anything like a locked diff does when youre going hard, though it will a little
this is all what ive deen told as ive had the conversion done but havent got the h165 diff in my car as i got my diff last night and am feeling a little seedy today and its raining so i aint touching the car
youre car would go pretty nice with that a-15 with 170hp specially with a sprung load, do some mean doughies and launch pretty good too. unfortunatly the underside of my car would cop a fair belting if i dropped the suspension but yeah it would look pretty mean
anyway good luck see ya round, Michael

your photo file size is probably too big, i had the same problem, you probably need to crop some of the photo if possible and drop the resoulution (this helps a lot but pics arnt as good obviously), and also if the files are in bitmap form (i.e. pic1.bmp) you can convert them to .jpg or .gif to reduce the size. if you need a program to do this download the one at www.irfanview.com, this is a free and very handy program which does what you need, though i cant work out how to crop the photo in this program

thats not good to be running cold all the time though, i usually sit and let my engine warm up before taking off just to avoid damage and to preserve the motor

i was suprised how easy it was to change the head gasket too, i knew about the diffrent bolt but last weekend when i took an a-14 block from a sunny i noticed that head bolt was in the front right (from standing in front of the car) i mentioned this to my brother in law but thought nothing of it cause i didnt know why it was diffrent, is this a bad thing? is it likely that the thread could have been damaged or do the bolts have the same diameter anyway? and will it have ruined the block in any other way, ie cause no oil somewhere? (keeping in mind the block will be rebuilt and worked before beeing used in a car again)

i forgot about that pickle fork thing, i used one before to good effect, im pretty sure my brother has one too, as for the hammer idea theres simply no room to sing the buggers for enough ooomph!. i checked the play in the new box and it does have a bit but i figure as the adjusting screw looks to have a lot of adjustment left in it i can just screw that down and thatll fix it. is that a bad assumption or do you think it should make it good again? i know youre gonna say tighten the screw and see before you take it off, but its too late for that, im just hoping that when i started pulling it apart i didnt loose anything, and nobody else has decided to have a play with it!

still not convinced you cant, dont mean to be stubborn but im gonna get to the bottom of this. i ran into a guy two days ago who was rallying a TE cortina, and had just bought a corolla rally car and i had my 1200 there and we had a quick chat and he commented that "oh thats right you guys are allowed to put a 14-A (how he said it) in thoose things arnt ya" plus my brother in law tells me about guys that rallyed 1200's with them and he had no connection with these guys hed just walk up to them at a rally and say what motor are you running and they would openly admit an a-14 so there obviously not doing it on the dodge, anyway whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this im gonna do it cause im bloody sure its allowed
p.s. im a little worried i might offend one of you guys here so i just want to clear up that i dont intend to offend anyone or sound like a prick on this matter

my steerings as loose as a goose and the steering box has run out of adjustment, i tried to get one out of a 1200 at the wreckers and had little sucsess removing it from steering arms, even with a ####ty little bearing puller, is there an easier way, the guys up the road want to rebuild the steering box but i reckon thats just an attempt to rip me off cause it probably doesnt need it. does anyone know much about them and want to give me some advice?
p.s. i may get a bigger bearing puller and go back for my third attempt at this other one but when i couldnt get it off i started opening it up to see if i could use one or two of its internals to repair mine but ive really got no idea.
