im looking in a book i got about twin webers and dellotos and it appears to be a "bypass screw" according to an exploded diagram of carby, some pics of dellortos have a screw in this hole and others dont, ill keep reading and see if i can work out why and what it does. o.k.

yeah but rally-a-coupe you still dont want mass amounts of body roll cause that aint good either, you need to as much as possible keep the weight evenly distributed (why i bought a 1200 as it has natural balance and light weight) on all four tyres as this will achieve maximum traction (going sideways is cool but aint always fastest). for this reason i reckon keep the front end flat with sway bar AND strut brace to reduce understeer but leave the arse end as independant as possible (i.e. as much like IRS on 1600s as that is a very good setup and the reason why people rally the 1600). the thing to watch out for with sway bars is though that if you upgrade to a really stiff one you will achieve better traction but also increase unpredictability as when you do manage to break traction the car becomes a lot more difficult to control.
thats my 2 cents anyhow

in regards to the radiator i found one in an alfa "something", its a twin cam 2 litre thing, it is a very short radiator with end tanks and the pipes are on the right sides but need to be replaced with 1200 size nozzles (cost $40 for that and acid bathing radiator) its a fair bit wider and thicker than a standard 1200 radiator and comes with a thermo fan. considering youre in melbourne ill tell you about a wreckers in hastings (near frankston) which has $75 all you can carrys 6 days a week, its a very good wrecker with quite a few cars full of bits, i often walk out of there with what would otherwise cost around $400. i live in bayswater but its definately worth the drive!

p.s. just in case you do get one of these radiators specifivally, an early model excel top hose is a perfect fit and standard 1200 still works on bottom

p.p.s i just read why youre post again and realised that youre having trouble finding a radiator cause you havent got much room, i thought it was cause you wanted bigger so that info i just spilt may not apply

thanks, i think i understand all that but my next main concern with this system would be that in tightening up the rear end too much youre only going to influence the car to lift up on two wheels and increase risk of rolling. but up to the point where the tires do lift i agree you would have better handeling. i wont be using a rear sway bar on my car for this reason i placed the initial query for a friend whos looking at doing it to his road car. i would love to see some pictures of this set up if that is possible, thanks heaps, Michael

im very interested in the "helper springs", my farther got them on his Toyota 4X4, and they improved the suspension heaps from a "smooth ride" point of view. but im wondering if these could also be used to improve handling especially on a rally car, Jamiecidpedro please tell me more about the setup you have and how you reckon it benefits handling, cheers Michael.

p.s. i think were talking about the same thing i.e. coil springs witch sit between the leafs and the body to assist the leaf suspension

not 100% sure but i say it because my brother in law has a ute diff at his house for me and tells me i have to come over and cut the mounts off a coupe diff hes got so they can be welded to the ute diff and therefore fit my car. hes done the conversion to his car so i presume he knows what his talking about
