it is currently a vl turbo, although the car has just been sold and will be picked up next weekend.

so i am now looking for a 1200 ute with a ca18det already done and neat.

i will put in $20000 if you beat me in my car. i have chopped up not only ####boxes like yours original, but also a Ferrari 355 and a GTR skyline all at the same set of lights with three other people in the car as witnesses.

where do you live and lets see if you can put you money where your mouth is,full stop.
if you can prove with a timeslip your car can runs in the tens, i will shut up, but anything less, just let me know when you can come and have a go.

for everyone else, i will put it on film and we can all laugh together.

spot on damo, just under 300hp. 294.91hp to be exact. just multiply kw by 1.3405.

i think a few people underestimate the ca18. they make 180 engine hp and with a few smart little tweaks, pump around 200-220 rear wheel hp which is around 280 at the engine without any dramas.

From what i have seen and heard from a couple of engine builders, they reckon the ca18 structure is similar to that of the vl turbo (which i have personally pushed to well over 350rwhp with completely standard internals). Rods are strong and pistons are good. I cant see why 300 engine hp is not sustainable, as long as it doesn't 8500 rpm every gear change, it should hang together.

Dont forget, it all depends on how it is tuned.

My experimenting will begin as soon as a ca18 ute turns up in my garage.

thanks for that.

with 340hp it should run in the low 10's easy. it looks like it has the right suspension/chassis setup.

let us know how hey goes next time out.

thanks

found this ute yesterday. very nice looking with a very healthy sr20det conversion. quite a neat job and runs in the tens, just.

are sr20 conversions into utes legal in qld ?

just thought some people would be interested if they haven't already seen it.

cheers
