I can vouch for Tighe's cams as well, he's quite knowledgeable on the datsun stuff, and will make it to what you want.

I've found it also helps when replaceing the plunger to soak the leather cup in auto tranny fluid overnight to help swell it, then run a flat tip screwdriver around in between the inside of the cup and the spring to open it out a bit. This technique can also give an old hard plunger a new lease on life.

Look at it this way, if at some point in the future you decide you still want a VS commo, you can go and find one in pretty good nick for around $2-3K, [edit: and they'll only get cheaper!] but if you want a 1200 ute, good luck finding one in alright condition for the same price.

Yeah, it was running on an L16 in a Stanza, The guy I bought it off picked up a L18 SSS motor after he blew the L16 up and never got around to fitting these. Right place, right time.

what size were the fuel lines in yours DAT141? The P312 they're going into has 5/16 fuel lines, and I think the holley red is good for about 5psi, so I'll suck it and see so to speak.

manifold spoken for.
Has anyone had experience tuning these carbs for A series before?
They have needles and seats to suit warm L16, how far will they need to be changed to suit warm A15? And will a holley red fuel pump and reg do the job or do I need to go bigger?
