I was in Malaysia in 1993, Wow am I getting old!
Was on a trip for a month, started in Bangkok, worked my way south through the Islands in the Andaman Sea then took a train into northern Malay crossing at Hat Yi eventually ending up in Singapore.
Food was great, country beautiful, although I'm not sure how well Americans would be received today in Malaysia.

Its kind of funny when you think that what you're bitching about regarding china is that they make cheap parts for 35 year old "cheap Japanese" cars.
these cars in their day were the same type of products that you're accusing the Chinese of making today. Face it, China is the new Japan & look where their products are 30 years later, Honda, Acura, Infinity, etc... people think pretty highly of Japanese products now.
Does anyone remember when "made in japan" was a derogatory comment?

Thanks for the explanation Burt, I wondered if it was just Gov. regulation at work.
It just seems so labor & time intensive for them to warrant having programs like you guy's are describing that they must be charging plenty of money from the public.
At what age of vehicle do they not care if you modify it?

I like the structural grommet description!
I posted this on another thread I think regarding the same car issue??? but got no response, I'm still curious if anyone cares to fill me in.
"From reading everything on this site over time I've seen many posts referring to rego's & have been somewhat perplexed.
I kind of feel bad for you guys down under, up here (the US) the only things we seem to have to comply to are emission standards & thats only after a certain year, I think it's 1977 or 78,prior to that anything goes, thats why you can have a 1000HP 68 Chev nova & be street legal. There are laws regarding cat converter removals & things like that & you wont get your car licensed unless it passes emissions inspection. That is unless it fails & you go spend I think $300 & it still fails then you get an exemption & your tabs anyways. So you can still have a POS emissions spewing failed inspection car & get your tabs, go figure!
Other then that the occasional safety inspection if you re-register a car into another state, but when I've done that they never check engine size, or brakes, or anything else other then making sure it has the proper running/brake lights & general safety overall, it's a rather cursory inspection.
You guys must have the safest cars in the world if they check all that stuff! Why are they so strict about this, did too many people go off driving into the outback & die ? Here there's a lot of wide open country but somebody usually drives by to save you butt if your stranded.
I've just always wondered why it seems so difficult to deal with licensing there."

So if I bought this I could take it apart & check it huh! I'm curious if it'd be an advantage to try using the lighter one or it would matter much at all. Any thought's on the cam's?

I took these a while back, the cams are marked as follows; Lightened one - DE 84 & 5754 Standard cam - 16, M & 180 Can anyone tell me anything about these, they look almost identical except one looks like it's been cut down on a lathe. Here are the two flywheels, the clutch disc is the same size but the pressure plate is different. Any ideas how to identify the plate needed if I want to run this one? Thanks all. I'm also feeling like a genius right now, I just finally figured out how to insert an image into the post

Thanks Kelmo & DD, I was wondering about the duals running into the master's, how bad did they interfere? It's obviously been done before w/right hand drive so how does one accomplish this? since I have the dual manifold & would like to do it I was hoping you'd get there first & make all the mistakes for me.
I stupidly only ordered one new strut cartridge which I received thinking I'll use the other NOS one I got from the guy in CA. in retrospect I'm not sure it's such a good idea using one brand new & one 30 year old one. I'm tempted to order another new one & return the other, you guys think there's any issues with mixing the two, am I asking for problems down the road?
It that the same dimensions as the typical bobtail spoiler or is it larger then what's seems like the standard?

Well I finally received my new parts from Nissan. New strut cartridge, strut insulators & all new rear spring bushings. I tried through 2 other dealers who couldn't seem to get anything & these guy's came through. http://www.nissanparts.cc/does anyone have one of those rear trunk lid spoilers that went full width of the car. I think it goes over the upper corners of the rear quarters & has an upward flare to it. I know there's pic's of them on this site. Anyone have one they'd like to sell me? Thanks, Evan
