The importers never warranty the accessories. All you are buying is the engine and the hang on bits are a free bonus.

As the turbo blew so soon, I think the shaft may have corroded. This would carve up the seals as it began to work hard under load.

There is a case for getting the turbo checked before use, even on an import engine as they can be expensive items.

They can be replaced and Repco or most parts places carry them.

OK, thanks for the tip on the gasket maker.
Must be a lot of the head to need that large a spacer. How are the water galleries holding up? Not collapsing into the coolant cavity especially near number 4 manifold side rear coolant opening??????
This is where I have seen most good heads fail after a number of skims.

Big end on CA rods are 48m diam and L series are 53.1 mm. This means you have to have a rod with a diameter of 48mm minus the offset diameter reduction.
The only ones I can find that fit the bill are QR20 rods 45 ID and 152.9mm or QR25 rods @ 143.05 long with same diameter. The only problem with these rods is they are 22.7 wide vs 21.75 so they would have to be thinned down. Gudgeon diameter would also need to be checked.

Thanks for the tip on gasket manufacture. I will ring ACL to see what they can do locally.

Double faced steel head gaskets locally are about $230. Nismo woven stainless gaskets are about $200.

Where do you use the 3mm steel spacer/gasket?
