In my 310 coupe I use a 4.111 diff so to get the same gearing as the speedo was calibrated for without having to find a rare 4.111 gearbox gear, I run 195/70 x 13 when cruising and drop on the 205/515x13 Bridgestones for the track.
Big difference in gearing as "tyres are gears"

The 38DGAS is an excellent carb with synchronous shafts. They were stock carb on the V6 ford Capri in OZ.
They were a popular conversion for 2 litre Pinto engined escorts here as well.
DCOE gives greater flexibility in choice of choke and jet sizes though.

The 3M rods sound great. With titanium lifters and retainers as well, the valve train should be nice and light.

This will have to make up for the heavier 214N valves (tuliped and thin profile) I am fitting in the interest of greater reliability.

The working life of titanium valves is a little short for my pocket, even using the new 6AL 5VN $$$$$$$$$ Alloy.

What type of failures occurred, was it lobe failure from lack of radius on the face of the lifter or did the lifter break?

Do you know of any one making titanium based lifter kits to save me having to get some made up?

I may be a wet blanket here, but the sandwich plates for thes gear boxes differ in spacing between input and counter shafts shafts, so the gear sizes have to be diffferent dont they ? ?

I reckon every bit helps as lighter followers means that is less weight the valve spring has to push back against the cam lobe. When the engine has 24 milliseconds or less to close a valve from fully open to closed @ 10000 rpm, the amount of spring pressure available and the mass of the valve train components including cam follower determines how fast the valve train can close. F=ma.
Its just a question if the titanium ones are sufficiently lighter than the Motorsport ones to justify what will be at least $65 Oz per lifter
