Thanks for his number Jim, will call him this morning.

Datman55: The car is getting some panel work done at the moment, so I can't remember the offsets. Price wise I'm happy to pay for what they are worth... I missed out on a set on ebay last Sunday for about $150 because my internet crashed... so painful. If you have a set or know of a set please send me a PM.

Thanks for your help guys.

Matt

The wheels are for an a12 engined sprite, with Datto running gear but Ford suspension and wheels - so the cortina/escort 4 stud pattern.

Both front and rear run very different offsets - so the reason I was after these wheels in particular is because they have an alloy centre and a steel outer - which I can then have modified.

I spoke to Performance about their Superlites (minilite copies) but they cannot do the offsets I need.

Matt.

Hi guys, just wanting to know if anyone knows a place in NSW that sells second hand wheels?

I know there are plently of places that sell mags that are only a few years old but I'm after minilite style wheels that were fitted to the likes of cortina's and escorts in the 60's-70's...

Any help would be perfect.

Matt.

I recently had a very similar problem noise wise - started off as sounding like the tyres scrubbing the inside of my guard - and gradually got louder and louder.

On inspection, nothing seemed wrong at all - and I inspected the area about 10 times, everything was tight.

Anyway after pulling everything apart (anything to do with safety makes me look for the problem until its solved), it turned out that one of the bolts holding my brake calliper on had snapped internally - so the calliper was making the noise against the disc on cornering etc. Funnily (and luckily) enough not once did the brakes cause me any problems during that whole time.

Maybe worth a look? Hope you find the problem.

Definately do it - you will find a bit more low down torque... but what I most enjoy is the noise it makes! do it for the noise alone!

Not that I own it but a guy I know of (and have seen this first hand) is currently building a Holden V8 into what I think is an old Nissan Van.

He is an old panel beater with some of the most amazing fabrication skills that I have ever seen... you should just see the engine cover alone - a complete work of art.

I've got to go and see him soon (more rust repairs... @%&#!) so will take along a digital camera and take a photo of it. Stay tuned...

Hi guys,

Currently I have the standard exhaust manifold fitted to my a12 - wanted to know if extractors stick out from the engine much further? (cannot really tell from the photos in the Tech section) and if so how much further?

Personally I prefer the wheels/mags to suit the period of the car... but I have seen a few good new wheel/old car set-ups... particularly with new paint jobs.

I have to admit that it bugs me when I see old Merc's and Bm's with new 20 inch wheels though... they just don't look at all right. To each his own I guess...

I've got a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite, but before I get kicked out as a member it's saving grace is that it has all a12 running gear.

a12 bottom end - standard except for flat-top pistons.
a14 head with a custom made manifold for a single 40DCOE weber (only can fit one in there).

The car is 100% reliable (did I just jinx myself there or what?), weighs in at around 550kg's all up and looks (almost) standard from the outside.

I'm not accepted too kindly by the Sprite/Midget club guys - I've put a Jap engine in a English car after all, you should see how upset that makes them... especially when I tell them that I did it because the a12 is the better engine, faster, more reliable...

Anyway - I hope I have not offended anyone with my presence in this discussion, but a cars heart is it's engine - and my cars had a heart transplant for the better.

Thanks for all of your advice and PM's guys - all really useful info. If anyone has an oil cooler adaptor that they do not want I'd be happy to talk about buying it. Send me a PM if you are interested.
Cheer's

Matt.
