I need to get someone to make a speedo cable for me - from the datto gearbox to an old smiths gauge... anyone know a place that can make one for me if I supply each cable? Also, it would be great if the same place could calibrate it for me too. Not asking much am I?

Matt.

Mate, put as many photo's of this little beast in the making on your website as you can. I just wish you were in Australia as I'd love to take a closer look.

What about the internal rust? Shoud I just blow them out with a air hose?

Hi all, I bought a good second hand set of genie extractors late last year with the idea of fitting them to my car.

Anyway as with all good intentions I just got around to pulling them out of the garage on the weekend and they are covered in surface rust - and when I picked them up heaps of small flakey bits of rust fell out of the pipes.

There are no holes in them at all but my question is are they now stuffed? They never got wet or anything while in storage - they just sat on a shelf in the corner of my garage.

If they are not stuffed what should I do to clean them up again before fitting?

Matt.

I'm about to look like a real idiot here but what exactly is a 'short shifter'? Is it just a short gear stick or does it shorten the travel that you physically have to move the gear stick to change gears?

I was just thinking the other day about building a rep Lotus 7 with a 1200 engine in it.

I bought a book a few years ago called 'How to build a sportscar for under 50 Pounds" where a father and son scratch build a 7 with a Ford engine in it... obviously for under 50 Pounds... It's a great book to flick through if anyone else comes across it - and I tell you what it get's your mind thinking.

Look forward to seeing the finished car.

"the next step is to get quotes to rebuild the engine"??? mate, do it yourself - that's the best part! If you are going to have a mid-life crisis go the whole way with it!

Some of the spelling and comments that we witness on this website at times makes me wonder though... it's like trying to break a WWII code or read a mobile text message here at times.
